Thats what im doing currently.

I honestly feel zone 1 is at least 100x harder than any other zone. No items so you get jumped by Minotaurs and monkeys and other every beat enemies through the wall with less than 20 milliseconds to react to, and your fate is determined by RNG and how many bats you run into and how many bat caves and how nice the bats want to play. Randomly moving enemies just kills it for me honestly and then I try Zone 2 and it’s a piece of cake because it’s based on how skilled you are and not how many bats you run into.

Coda is just bat simulator, I’m done and going back to bolt this is pointless and winning with him is based on RNG

Well In Zone 1, you can dig a corner of a secret room to reveal 1 tile without opening any exits for bats. This is how you would gain information without the use of any torch. Well, if youre digging towards a room youre not really supposed to move forward immediately. that works even for every other character. you dont just jump into a room once you dig through it.

Flee for multiple beats away to give you enough time to react to whats on the other side of the wall.

Thank you so much for that advice, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. When you think about it, the only enemy in the entire game that can kill you for running away (essentially outrunning you) is the evil eyes and those are only in some 5. I’ve started just peaking into corners of rooms to see if it’s bats and instantly running away after digging walls so I have time to react to things like monkeys and it actually makes it feel so much more fair.

Solutions I’ve found to my problems:
For bats, do the same thing I had to learn to do as aria, dance around them waiting for them to mess up and then hit them. And if it takes way too long or if I have 1 dmg and it’s a brown direbat or something ridiculous like that then just bomb them.
For opening caves, dig the corner first to peek in to see if it’s a skeleton/bat cave, and then if it’s not then it’s safe to go in.
For opening doors, instantly run away after opening the door until you’ve had time to plan and react to all the different types of enemies running at you.
And now that I’ve learned all that, it’s really just about not messing up or panicking.

^yup! a good framerate can help as well. as well as zooming the game out by using a lower screen multiplier.
so far my only problems are songs with tempos more than 150 BPM (namely 2-3, 3-3, and 4-3, especially Death Metal, not mentioning 5-3 coz im playing Coda non-DLC) theres only a chance i can survive them, so yea i have to keep practicing Zone 4 (im stuck in it xD)
