Crypt of the NecroDancer

Got a dance pad, works fine but...
I suck so much with it. Seriously, the only thing i have manage to beat is Zone 1 Twice, and Once with the Dance Pad option.

Any tips on how to handle the balance, where to put the feet, etc. Usually i have my left in the centre, and the right one to move or use stuff, sometimes i switch them, but luring enemies is so much harder. The other buttons are mapped as a shortcut. Obviously, i am not in any kind of top physical form, being slim and not working out all that much, if at all.

It is a soft pad, responds nice considering the price, latency is minimal. But sometimes i miss the button spot. Does it have a large learning curve? Sometimes i also hang on to the walls around me to keep the balance, but i would like to prevent that later on.

Welcome to Crypt of the Necrodancer, and congratulations on finishing the first zone! Necrodancer's learning curve is very steep - it'll take you a week or so to finish the game for the first time - but it's very rewarding. It's recommended that you play with the keyboard for a bit before transitioning to the dance pad. To be honest, Zone 2 is the biggest bridge to cross; the enemy patterns have significantly changed, and many enemies are much more dangerous than their Zone 1 counterparts. I remember being stuck on Zone 2 for three days straight because of those golems and mushrooms!

As for handling the dance pad itself, it looks like you're doing fine. If there's negligible latency, then you're essentially hitting every beat. If you're missing beats here and there, then all it takes is a bit more practice for a flawless victory.

As an aside, you miiight want to practice the keyboard for Bolt. They're not the easiest character with a dance pad. :redbat:

I played it before on my Dualshock 4 before, 0 latency and everything. It's just that the dance pad is harder for me because i was never into it, i bought it just because of this game, too.
Sadly the Dance Pad option in the game is just for Zone 1, and starts on an easier note. Wish there was a whole mode made for the Dance Pad (A tad easier, but not too much).

I am hitting beats, so they are more or less instant, however it could be my footwork where i get mixed up with the enemy patterns, usually where nothing complex happens i can go around and do stuff normally.

Guess it takes practice, i should probably try some other rythm games first to get started. Thanks for the reply :necroshovel:
