Cook4Luv and dating
Hey, all. I've hit my first couple dates today, and I'm left with a couple lingering thoughts/questions.

The upside to my two successful "dates" (a loose term, as all I did is cook for them and then got obnoxious texts in the middle of a shift) was to get silver tickets. ...Anything else besides that? Any character development or events that can unravel? Because if not, I'm not that enthralled. The reason being...

The downside (to those that care) will be that sticking with one person means you can't get an achievement. I haven't used a single ticket thus far, and I like achievements when I enjoy the associated game (as I do with CSD!).

So... how should I handle dating? Don't care about silver tickets, like achievements, but I also strive for perfect days. I don't want to serve a bad meal to a date, but I don't want to continually date the same person. Will s/he dump me if I make a perfect meal but then make poor choices in the texts?

How many people are there in the system? Do you have to date both sexes for the achievement? Do you have to have a successful date for it to count with whomever you're wooing? "Tell me more, tell me more, like does he have a car~?" I want to know as much as I can. If you're willing, please fill me in.

Thanks in advance. Enjoy the cooking and the serving and the glavin.

Just keep dating. After a few dates (I guess they need to be succesful?) it will come to an end and the next person appears. Keep on going, and the achievement will come easily.

Even if you don't care for the silver tickets, they will be important later and you would wish later that you had them for free instead of buying them in the equipment store.

For the achievement, you don't have to date both sexes, just the gender of your preference. I got the achievement by only dating in my preferred gender, though it was a little buggy and I only got it a few days after the last date for the last candidate.

Not sure how the texting part matters, one time I was really slammed with orders and missed it entirely but the date came back next time. But in general I tried to succeed the texting parts.

As for ultimate usefullness, let's just say the game does a good job of simulating a cook's love life (and maybe romance in general!). That is to say, all the relationships will end after a certain point, and you move on with the next Cook4Love match down the line. That's life, eh?

Much appreciated on the responses, all. It's good to know that if I simply keep banging away with my dates (pun semi-intended), everything will come up roses. Also good to have been teased with the knowledge that silver tickets are more useful than they appear at the start. I barely ever remember to check out the bets, so perhaps my forgetfulness will actually be a benefit rather than a hindrance.

Lessons for life, brought to you by video games. ...Hope you're not married. If so, don't let your spouse see this. :D:

Another way of getting rid of your date is NOT having their preferred food on the menu. So, when you get the email saying he/she will stop by this day, don't add the food to your active menu. He/she will not come, write an angry email and stop dating you.

The pool of dates is one person of each sex for something like six different foods. By dating a person who likes a given food, you are also removing their opposite gender equivalent. In fact, if you switch your preference after/while dating someone, all your emails from past and current prospects retroactively switch names and pictures--probably best not to consider the implications (or just laugh).

There is no possible long-term outcome for dates; they all go crazy in some way or another and leave you with golden tickets for the Festivities. It's just a gameplay mechanic to get extra tickets (which you need to do if you want to reach Platinum ASAP) and nothing more. (Actually, I dunno if this switched to Silver tickets when they were introduced for the Steam release. Kinda pointless if it did.)

I like the idea of these dates, but the texting with them is really annoying... imo it takes way too long, coz when you answer the phone you will always ruin 3-4 meals/orders. And for me thats so frustraiting when in a 70+ combo :sadpanda:

I've managed to avoid this once, but only once. It's heavily luck-based. Best you can do is serve steak, soup, chicken, fish and pizza: their cooking times mean you can start them before accepting the text, and since they require no prep after cooking, you can serve them while still waiting for the agonizingly slow responses and whatever they get replaced with will wait long enough for you to finish. Once you have 7 or 8 order slots it's basically impossible, though.

I like the idea of those "annoying" dates. What would be the point if you get mysterious tickets for free? I got them once I dated a person few times, and than Megan wrote me, that she is sorry and she's moving out of town. But I should accept two or three Mysterious tickets (those cost 2000$ from Equipment store).

I'm doing this dating stuff late in the game with 8 slots. I get around 8 bad/completely burned orders and around 5+% negative buzz. But that is not that much. And you get the tickets. However I completed the Festivities and bought every single ticket from my hard days's work.

But I get the idea, that those dates are meant to bother you during your work day. And the text options are quite funny. ^^
Quick question. Does messing up and sending a negative text lessen the amount of golden tickets you get in the end, or does it have any real effect at all?

^^hmmmm, good question, I have no idea... I just missed the phone one time & I didn't see any difference. So it might be possible, that it's not that important ;)

I try to answer it every time. Since i have maxed Wine & maxed Soup on the menu i rarely make perfect days anyway :D

Just experienced it for myself. The time on this is absolutely absurd - if a chore or something shows up right after you start accepting, that's it. Combo broken. Nevermind if you've just put on certain other foods. I know there's returns for doing it, just like robberies (which are inevitable), but it drives me nuts as a perfectionist at these kinds of games >:

It lowers the chances that your date will have a pleasant evening. However if you served their food perfectly, the answers won't matter. If it was an average order, correct answers are vital.

Thanks, Chubigans! Appreciate the reply. Love the game. Just wish it had more attention than it does.
