A INVESTIGAÇÃO PÓSTUMA (ou, The Posthumous Investigation) é uma mistura de visual novel, point and click e defuntos literários - não necessariamente nessa ordem.

Mecanicamente, o jogo é simples: a gente anda num espaço 2D (vulgo, da esquerda pra direta e vice-e-versa) e interagimos com coisas e pessoas utilizando o mouse ou a barra de espaço, podendo correr com o shift e acelerar a passagem do tempo com o F. É isso.

O brilho mesmo jaz no storytelling: são 13 horas de muita leitura, imersão, dedução e interpretação. São 15 suspeitos para "investigar" e interrogar, muitas referências literárias e à patrimônios nacionais brasileiros (como o cachorro caramelo) e vários quebra-cabeças para resolver pelo caminho, um dia por vez. E, por sorte, todo dia é dia.

Uma ótima pedida para fãs da literatura brasileira, leitura no geral, visual novels e point and clicks. Definitivamente um jogão BR que merece muito ser valorizado!

English translation is a little rough around the edges, but doesn't take away from how great this game is.

This game is the surprise of the year for me. It wasn't on my radar at all, but when it came up in Upcoming Releases, its combination of detective gameplay and literary fiction roots made it an instant buy.

The game's distinctive black and white art style and vibe-y music perfectly fit the narrative and gameplay, and the story unfolds in a very engrossing way, slowly deepening the player's understanding of over a dozen characters you need to investigate.

In terms of personal taste, I would call it a masterpiece, but it admittedly isn't without its flaws.

The game's writing is great, but it has grammatical mistakes throughout. It's not enough to mar the experience too much, but I do hope it gets a cleaner pass, as the overall writing is brilliant.

The most divisive element will be the time loop mechanics. While the devs have included some streamlining to iron out the repetitive nature of the core gameplay, some puzzles still require repeating the same actions over and over, especially if you're trying to solve them without a guide. I'm not totally sure how much can be done to remedy this, but if it can, I hope the devs go for it.

If you have the patience it requires, this is a 10/10 experience, full of wit and charm.
