This game is like Outlast?

I played Outlast on my friend's PC (very scary game!) and it seems that Paranormal has a concept like Outlast's so I want to know if this game it's like "the scariest game of the year" (Outlast)

Outlast has a story, this game is just made by an indi dev. You go around in a house, and just explore. Only really 1 replay.

Paranormal has a randomized haunting system, so it has much more replayability, since every playthrough will be different.

The only thing outlast has in common with this game is the use of a handheld camera, much more replayability in paranormal though

Outlast is a linear Story driven game, with a bit of exploration for Batteries and Documents, Paranormal on the other hand has randomized scares/hauntings, both very scary games but in a different way.

I absolutely agree. By the way, I'd recommend both games if you can afford it. September is Steam's new horror month (unofficially). haha

from what i played on desura i loved this game, you will be surprised.
outlast is totally different, great game but i didnt like the monsters, i prefer paranormal things !
also started the new amnesia and i really like it !!!

While Paranormal has more replayability, you will more than likely be bored of it after about 3 hours because of the limit of exploration. You're stuck in a house with random occurances that don't seem too random after about 3 playthroughs. It has a some surprising pop-ups in an attempt to scare you, but there's really nothing about the game that will continue to scare you after a second playthrough.

Outlast on the other hand, will last you many hours and even for days. It has a very immersive enviroment and you have the freedom to explore a giant asylum. There are a lot of pop-up scares that would make you sht your pants if Paranormal actually scares you. In this game, you are constantly investigating and finding clues about what happened in the asylum so there is an actual story behind it. I'll tell you this is the scariest game i've ever played and it is also the best non-action survival horror game that i've played. You can't fight the creatures in this game and all you can do is run and hide.

@Samplon Paranormal has a backstory behind it. You have to find the clues (notes, for example). There are scares in Paranormal that can kill you. Combat never has to be in a horror game for it to be scary. Outlast is a totally different kind of game, so comparing the two is a bit pointless. Either way, I recommend both, so you can get different kinds of horror experiences. Outlast had a much larger budget and team, while Paranormal was designed by one person, so always keep that in mind. Different games, different styles of scares, different gameplay, different setting. Enjoy both for what they are.

And it's scary as hell! Outlast didn't scare me as much and as quickly as paranormal has! I've done a lets play of outlast, and I'm going to be doing one on paranormal too (that's ok, right)
