Yall seen the crazy comparisons to Oblivion?

How can this game have worse physics and mechanics than a 20 year old game? Like wtf I am genuinly curious and I am not trying to troll. But that honestly makes me very sad because after seeing that comparison video I cannot bring myself to buy this game after seeing how lacking it is. Oblivion from 2006 has better physics and NPCs than a modern triple A game... Im honestly really bummed I was excited because I love these types of games

So youre saying its cool for a huge studio in 2025 to just completely ignore basic world physics and realism that a game in 2006 could accomplish? The game is an RPG btw. Read what you just typed slowly and think about it for a moment and about how it sounds.

Even 1995 Daggerfall feels less shallow and empty than this game.

No, because this game isn't trying to be a clone of any of them, or Oblivion.

I am trying and failing to believe your "not trying to troll" claim. Like I said, if those things are important to you, play Oblivion or another game that has them. Avowed lets you set up camp and talk to your companions, while Oblivion does not. Should I use your logic to say Avowed is a superior game then? No, they're just different and focus on different things, that's all.

'gamers' need to take some CS courses and understand how these games are made.

All you notice in modern gaming is the lack of attention to detail....the lack of extra effort...the chance for creativity squandered for safe results. Almost as if the coders can't won't bother coding anything they don't have to.

Minimum Viable Product (MVP). That's what everyone gets to play these days. perpetual beta testers are the modern casual gamer.

I've been thinking about this and wondering why we suddenly aren't allowed to compare such fundamentally similar games. Sure they are not clones but I mean it's not like first person action RPGs set in fantasy worlds are THAT common. There might be plenty of 3rd person ones, but in 1st person??

As far as the worst game, that subjective, you and I are different consumers with different expectations.

The comparison is already wrong. Are Dragon Age Origins and BG3 bad games? In comparison, they would also do poorly against Oblivion in these points. They don't have that either. You have static NPCs etc (old school RPG). You can't knock objects off tables in either BG 3 or Dragon Age Origins (one if, if not, the best RPGs in history)... However, Dragon Age Origins, for example, is the MUCH better RPG just because of the RPG elements and its story which is an 8 or even 9/10 compared to Oblivion whose story might reach a 3/10 on a good day (more like a 2/10). Oblivion is just a fantasy open world sim with a few RPG elements and not a real RPG. Yes, that's why it's better at simulating a world. But in all other aspects? .... With its mediocre story, Avowed, for example, is still superior to the EXTREMELY bad story of Oblivion and its mediocre RPG elements are also superior to the almost non-existent RPG elements in Oblivion... and well, the mediocre combat system is infinitely superior to the terribly poor combat system of every Elder Scrolls game.
