Also I don't recall how power works during 2020+ but make sure that your computer has constant energy while this process runs.
I am not updating my bios because a game has decided i need a bios update. This kind of crap needs to be done a different way. I have a fairly old 13700k that was bought around the release of it. When I built this computer, i load tested it and limited power myself.
Also, updating bios isn't always seamless and trivial. If you customize your bios options for various things like OC or under-volting, many options can be renamed, moved, or expanded. So not wanting to figure out all the settings again, i take a screenshot with phone of the settings then reapply.
If your computer is stable with no issues, there is no reason to update the bios. For a security issue that affects me, sure, but most security vulnerabilities are around server configs or local computer is comprised already.
So just hit ok on the dialog prompt and continue.
Except this is a known issue that will destroy your intel CPU.
100% needs to be updated.
Don't give someone advice if you don't know about the topic.
It totally does have relevance. I have manually changed voltage and power limitations in my bios and they closely matched the new defaults of bios update. If you know what you are doing, you can limit power aka undervolt and then you can limit by total power draw additionally. I realize you guys are probably ignorant of this feature and most likely bought your pc, rolling with the defaults. So spare your clown awards for yourself.
Thanks for the points.
Frack you Obsidian.
