Avowed
Is avowed actually that bad or are we mobbing it a bit? Its a retro throwback maybe?
Like dont get me wrong, its not a great game but is it as bad as everyone says? I have my issues with some things but it wouldnt be so bad if this game came out in like idk 2011? take it as a retro game?

5/10 game. It's okay.

It is a good game. Most people who bash it never played it.
no it's not bad, if you want some bad games just look up in steam gamefest

Steam reviews are 83% positive if you exclude all the people who bought it just to leave a bad review and refund it. That's very far from "everyone".

It's not retro at all. Why would you think that?

Dude, this game has been the #1 target of the anti-woke mob for a few months now. I don't know who you're including in "we" here, but it's absolutely been mobbed.

It's a "good" game worth a gamepass sub to try out... not worth $70usd ... its the equivalent of a straight to DVD, or Netflix movie
the game looks very average (and the reviews seem to agree), i doubt it would have gotten so much negative attention if the art director simply kept his mouth shut
Personally, I'm REALLY enjoying it. It has some quirks and the world is a little static, but that doesn't affect the gameplay for me. If you approach it as a dialogue heavy/action-RPG and not a living breathing sandbox open world, you won't be disappointed.

Not as immersive as Elder Scrolls or Kingdom Come, but a lot more fun to play imo.
It's a good game that is just being targeted by bad people (and some random people who don't see what they're getting swept up in).

It is a victim of somewhat bad marketing, one stupid director and a war against perceived "woke".
So yeah. The game is good, it just isn't what everyone expected/wanted.

After reading alot of the negative reviews, one of the big common themes is people wanting "the skyrim killer/replacement" which this was never going to be, or claimed to be.

I expected and wanted "the outer worlds" in a medievil format, and 4 hours in I feel like that's what it is. The gear progression is system is a big "meh" and there's alot of empty map it seems, Devoid of even NPC/Enemies which are my 2 big gripes so far, but I'm enjoying the gameplay, the graphics and the writing, which obsidian always do well. I actually care about my companions and their backstory, which compared to any Bethesda game is just "solo play please". That's the primary difference for me for this studio. After 4 hours in I'm having fun and will keep playing but also don't think it will make my "game of the year candidate" list. If a game can hold me 40 hours i consider it worth the cash.

Seriously? A TRILLION dollar publisher? 0/10. Also, people who understand, and moreover, accept basic biology do NOT want to be asked their preferred pronoun, anywhere in the game.

The mere suggestion that 'you have to accept a little jank to do something different' is an admission of 'we don't know what the hell we're doing'.

I'm 10000% with you ref the pronoun stuff, but fighting the sad soft system we created isn't going to win them any sales. may as well tick the box and let people do as they want to do. If you're not a woke tit, you just click your gender and move on. There are boxes to tick these days. See cyber punk.

Suggesting obsidian don't know what they're doing however, is like saying brazil arent sure how to kick a ball. When you consider the best fallout ever made is agreed and recognised to be FNV by hardcore fans and RPG players, vs all bethesda releases, the people don't lie.....
It's pretty good, I think. Like, it's basically a jumping puzzle/combat puzzle game with some RPG stuff in it. Eh, I like it.
Avowed being the latest anti-woke two minute hate is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ exhausting. Steam discussion forums are usually pretty dire but this is just miserable, which I assume is the intention behind brigading it and spending all day for weeks coping and seething.

Actually, it was kinda funny seeing the chuds wring their hands about player numbers. Fallout: New Vegas released to 50k players at launch, precipitously dropped to 15k players three months later, and only ever cleared above 15k like three times in fifteen years, and always only for a month. It seems to average 6k a month across a standard year. I guess that was a flop too.
It all depends. I think if you anticipated Avowed, i could see being let down.
If your like me and you didn't really follow development and had no expectations, its decent. I even played both poe games, but just didn't really get into the hype for avowed until like a month before release....
I can really see both sides, people who found a fun action rpg to kill some time with, and others expecting more and were let down with what they got.
I'm playing it on gamepass, but this game is good. For me it is 8/10
