It only spits on the face of legitimate owners.
The reason I never purchase games that include Denuvo, no matter how much I'd like to play that game.
The reason people have a problem with it is that essentially turns the DRM into a limited online activation that has to be reauthorized every so often. No internet, no game. Servers down, no game. Bug in Denuvo, no game.
There are also accusation of performance issues but that's mostly down to the DRM it's attached to (it doesn't play nice with some) and the implementation by the developers.

More money saving for me and less good decent games that's gonna get lost years later due to DRM servers getting expired thus locking those who bought it out.
if we're lucky, the only way to probably play these future dead games is via future console ps5 or later xbox or Nintendo switch console emulation.
