Buy the game, if it doesnt work you refund it. Your pc can use your ram as vram as well, although not as good as native vram
Copy, don't work steam that often so i didn't know how refunding worked.

If you've ran the game 2 hours or less, and owned it for 2 weeks or less it's a guaranteed refund with no questions asked unless you seem to abuse the system. If you don't know much about the refund system.. I'm oretty sure you're not abusing it xD

I saw. I was just curious where this experience with UE5 games came from.
It came from playing games outside of Steam, my library here is like 30% of the games out of the total that is installed on my PC.

Yes I saw the list you just put up. Fair enough, though I've not heard of half of them. I was expecting more of the mainstream releases. Stalker 2, Silent Hill, Hellblade etc.

Still, I have played many more than you have and have had no issues with any of them apart from ARK but that was cpu related with my old 9900k, which wasn't good enough.

Well, I got Cyberpunk 2077 refunded after 12hrs of playtime, and that was also the only game I ever pre-ordered.

I don't chase after mainstream AAA games or based on what's popular trend.
I have specific taste and I play the ones I find interesting.

I have played the first installment of Hellblade, so the new one is on my list of games to play, but my list is very big gathering dust.

But, you probably have much stronger build than a 3060, so the lack of optimization may not affect you. What UE5 games have you played? Since you claim to have played more than me.

I just tried to run the game with absolutely lowest graphic settings for 1080p in true fullscreen mode, the game consumes at maximum 5680 MB of VRAM. So yeah, I think your 6 gig VRAM should be fine, although if the game eats anything more than that you may get micro stuttering. And as the game evolve (typically) it's going to be more power hungry, so you might want a 8 gig card to have good experience.

Otherwise, with 1080p it's super smooth for me, of course. But it looks like PS4 grade graphic, though.

If you want to use the AI feature though, you will need minimum 8GB VRAM.

8gb vRAM for AI features.. 6gb vRAM for the ability to just play, you will be fine mate

I don't play games because they are popular. Those games I mentioned are popular because they are good games, simple.

You're right, I do have a more powerful system but it's not top end by any means. However, I think you are expecting far too much from a 3060 because it has 12GB VRAM. It could have 8gb and in 99% games the vram would still not be the limiting factor. It's only when getting to 3060ti like performance that it becomes more of an issue in some games at 1440p when expecting to max settings. I used to have a 3060ti.

As for UE5 games I've played, they are all on my account here apart from one or two on windows/xbox store. I'm not expecting you to check but the ones I can remember are

Stalker 2, Hellblade 2, Tokyo Xtreme Racer, Layer of Fear, Silent Hill 2, Remnant 2, Robocop, Still Waked the Deep, Smite 2, Slender The Arrival, Riven, Lords of the Fallen, Frostpunk 2, Fort Solis, Black Myth Wukong and ARK survival ascended. Probably a couple more I forgot.

Some had a few issues at launch for sure. Nothing that stopped my playing any of them though, apart from ARK like I already said. UE5 is still a new engine and it takes experience and money to get the best. Reminds me of cryengine. The only devs to ever get the best from it was/is crytek themselves.

Well, I'm expecting around the same performance compared to my experience with non-UE5 games that are similar or more graphically intensive, both old and new games since even my 1660 handled a lot of them. I recommend watching Threat Interactive's video on UE5 and "modern" optimization.

Which non UE5 games do you consider similar or more graphically intense?
