Fixing 'situations' and approval increasing but keep getting assassinated.
I cant get past the first term.
Playing as UK on default difficulty, The Capitalists start hating you.
First playthrough I didnt try to improve my rating with them so they assassinated me. ok my bad.
Second playthrough I make an effort to increase their happiness, my approval rate goes up with them but they still decide to assassinate me…
Third playthrough I prioritize Capitalists over everyone else, and increase my police/security. they still become a threat, although not as large, however another group starts to hate me and assassinates me…
I dont understand.

Sorry for the very late reply to this. But making favorable policies takes time for the full effect to occur. This is why you can spend your first few turns appeasing environmentalists and them still sending you into an early grave. It's kinda silly as this means people who obviously pay attention politically are somehow blind to the player clearly going down a certain path and accepting change takes time.

However thankfully you can greatly minimize the chances of getting assassinated. Fully invest into the intelligence services and this changes an unseen value when it comes to your personal protection. The game never expresses this in anyway but it is always something you should do early on.

Sucking up one group often increases the number of people in that group - if they don't like you, that just means more people don't like you...
Remember that people are members of more than one group - so if the capitalists hate you, make friends with them through their other values. If you focus on their capitalist values, that often means you sacrifies something that they valued more - i.e. the environment or being parents....
Typically find ways to reduce membership in groups you don't like, and increase it in the groups you do like.
Also, invest in the intelligence service - any good PM should survive a couple of assassination attempts...
