Democracy 3 won't load when I click play....

We need more information than this to debug it. is it for Windows? mac? Linux? Has it EVER run/ do you have any mods subscribed to or installed? what PC and operating system do you have? what video card and drivers?

I actually just found a solution by deleting the documents folder and re-installing but other than that, I was using Windows 8 and I have no mods. It had never happened and I'm using 64bit arch and 2gb graphics card

It's kind of funny because I fixed this problem almost a year from now xD Anyway just navigate to your Documents folder and delete the Democracy 3 folder located in it. Also If its not in the main folder it may be in a folder (still in Documents) called "My Games". You can also just search for it via Ctrl+F

Dear Cliffski i downloaded this game today (my first from you) and it worked for five minutes, i was in the display settings bit and an accident meant i set it to some incorret setting as all i get is a white screen now, i have tried deleting and reinstalling from steam on my mac but all i get is a white screen everytime. PLEASE PLEASE tell me how to reset the graphics!!!

Hey guys, my game says it's initiating the start up for a split second, and that is the extent of what I am able to do. I haven't even made it into the game yet...I'm playing on a PC

took me hours but sorted the problem... you need to frind the prefs.ini file and delete it...

Look in the Democracy 3 folder. It must be in My Documents/My games. This worked for me.

Jolupro that sounds like a windows based solution so no good to us mac heads... ngulungundu i cant find the exact steps but something like this:

1. shut down democracy 3 and the steam client
2. in finder open your hard drive at the top level, then navigate to "users" and in there select and open your account "[my account name]"
3. click on the "go" option in the top menu bar and select "go to folder"
4. type "Library/Application Support/democracy3" into the box and hit 'go'
5. this should open up the folder with refs.ini in it and a simple delete of that file should make it all work again...

I FOUND THE SOLUTION

After pressing "PLAY" on Steam, it would just start launching for a second and then nothing would happen. The issues is in inability for Democracy 3 to access the files stored in your \MyDocuments\MyGames\democracy3\ folder.

Here is how I fixed this issue:

1. Open Windows 10 settings and in the settings search bar type "Windows Security" and open it
2. Go to "Virus & threat protection"
3. In the bottom go to "Manage ransomware protection"
4. Disable "Controlled folder access" completely by setting it to "Off"
5. The game should launch now

Possible (but not necessary) additional steps:
6. You might need to reinstall the game because your democracy 3 folder might have become corrupted for one reason or another.
7. If "Controlled folder access" was already set to off and you actually have a 3rd party antivirus running, you might need to disable your 3rd party antivirus completely (or find a corresponding folder access setting there) because instead of Windows Security your antivirus is the actual source of blocking that folder access.
