HOWTO: Select higher resolutions
If your 3d config util only shows 640 or 800 resolution. Goto the games folder (Properties -> Browse Local Content etc..) and delete all glide* files. Then launch the tool again - you will now be able to select a higher resolution.

Alternatively - simply edit the 3DVideo.CFG file and put settings like this

DirectX7
1920
1200
32
DirectSound3D Hardware Support

The game will still be 4:3 and stretched, if you dont want this either adjust your video drivers to enable keep aspect.

Leave it at

Glide2x
800
600
16
Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio

and use nglide_config.exe (it's in the base wiz8 folder) to change resolutions/aspect ratios.

no - glide does not support 32bit

From nglide_readme.txt

Q: Does nGlide render in 16-bit color depth?
A: No. All is converted and rendered in 32-bit, no matter what color depth mode is selected in-game. This eliminates color banding problem.

After looking at the clouds....... I stand corrected.
Carry on, good sir. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Set it to OpenGL rather than DX7. Better backwards compability in the AMD and NVIDIA Drivers.

You can set it to that resolution. I got myself at this one. Just edit the config.

ok thanks, but they just put some more effort in this and give us the right control option...for the price they sell a game outdated well i expect much more than this..

It will render at that res but it'll be stretched horizontally. If that's not acceptable you could do 1280x1024 with some very minor horizontal squishing or 1280x960 if you simply must have its original aspect ratio.

Aww, come on it is 8 Euros. And has potentially like multiple hundreds of hours of gameplay.
Yes, it is old, but it is a really good game. 8 bucks is a steal.

Did this, and now Steam Overlay won't work, even though it says to use shift-tab

There exists a piece of software that remedies that. I tried it for a short while — and it works!
