Wizardry 6: Bane of the Cosmic Forge

Wizardry 6: Bane of the Cosmic Forge

This game interests me
So bought this game just for the nostalgia and I thought the pixel spiders on the store page looked creepy. At first I figured this might be a fun and nostalgic game to mess around with but not expecting to get dragged into this kind of a game. Well 20 hours later and I still have fun when I play it. Up to the mines and its a confusing mess, but its still fun to explore and get better. The amazingly well done monster animations push me to get farther. I've really seen no game I can think of that paints pixels this beautifully for its time, besides a few like battletoads, castlevania, and several others. But this ones characters just fill the screen, and for their time almost feel 3d (I know they are just animating pixels in that way but its a great effect).

This is an amazing game for its time, even non rpg gamers might find interest in this as I've played other move forward rpgs and they imo were just not as fun or as visually impressive as this game. Least I haven't seen any yet, even the classic rpgs like zelda, y's and dragonwarrior they just don't compare to the full animations of this game. And other wrpgs I've played I just didn't think looked this good at all besides the stuff sir tech made later.

This game made me interested in realms of arkania which I also bought on gog. This series if I ever get through 6 and 7 I'll definitely get the 8th one. Amazing series and game, I really wasn't that interested in this genre of fp move forward oldschools but this game has completely changed my mind on the genre.

Wizardry 7 is probably the best overall game in the series, but Wizardry 6 is my personal favourite. The EGA visuals are top-notch and hit me with a big nostalgia bomb. The dungeon designs are great and D. W. Bradley's descriptions are just so damn evocative. I've played through the game at least half a dozen times but I keep coming back for more because of the gameplay and customizability. I'm happy to see it attract new fans 30+ years later.
