It's one of those gems that never got the attention it deserved. Simple mechanics but the story is engaging and there is quite a variety in the puzzles and gameplay segments. Almost every level had something new.

The DLC is about half the main game length and the story is simple. But it introduces a whole new set of abilities. Seemed a bit harder than the main game because Pigsy is not very tough and there's no upgrades.

Worth the time so do get it if you can.

I feel a little bad trash-talking this game because it was clearly made with a lot of passion. From the colorful and visually striking environments, the fantastic motion-capture work that gives all the characters a realistic presence, and the incredible writing that went into this fresh re-interpretation of the timeless story of Journey to the West, you can very clearly see the love and craftsmanship that went into its creation. It's rare to see that in games nowadays, I want to make it clear that I applaud and appreciate that.

But yeah, this game blows.

Sorry Andy Serkis, you killed it as usual but this game is a chore to play. The combat is extremely limited and becomes repetitive very early on, the platforming too is very restrictive and basically devolves to an exercise in "press the button to continue the game", and the story is just not very good. I praised the writing earlier, but your character's traveling companion detonates the explosive band on your head if you get too far away hahahahaha like this obliterates all the character development, awww they're growing closer together that's so sweet BEEP BEEP BEEP BOOOOOOOOOM lmao c'mon now

At one point she finally trusts him enough to take the explosive headband off and lil bro puts it back on hahahaha sad piano plinking away while I'm laughing at this simp
