Guy looking for a good fighter game~
Thats me :D!
I'm currently looking into fighting games since I feel like it would better stimulate my brain rather then me keep playing shooters. (I also use to love fighting games as a kid before they all became like MvC with 1 hit leading into death :P)
Is this a good fighter? I saw the trailer and some gameplay and it looks wonderful.
Any Pro's and Con's of this game when compared to others?

If you don't like MvC, then you probably won't like this.

KOF13SE is a good one, but hard to play.

Well it's not so much of me not liking it as much as it is everytime I go online with it I always fight someone that kills me with an infin combo.

Hard to play as in MvC infin combo?

There are no infinites in either game afaik. There are long combos with very quick resets in SG however (there are long combos in KoF as well but most of em require HD meter) as SG is a very combo heavy game. So if thats a negative to you then move on.
From what I remember, KoF is hard to play as in combos and such require very tight timing and inputs are less forgiving.
It depends on what kinda game you like really. KoF, SG and SF are all very good in their own ways.

Start with SSF4, it's big, it has forgiving inputs and short combos.

I actually second this if this is your first fighting game. I dont like a lot about SSF4 but street fighter has always been a nice starting point for getting used to 2D fighters.
I will say KoF13 since it has nice mobility. SSF4 feels too much like Hadoken Hadoken Hadoken to me.

Skull Girls is fine if you are just playing against the computer or against some friends. But if you want to play random online, it is not beginner friendly at all. I been playing fighting games since MvC1 and I am barely average here.

SF4 has a nice slower pace, and a good neutral game, but forgiving inputs? No sir, I disagree. That's my big issue with it. Oh, were you a little off on the timing of your link and now you get a "chain" combo instead of a "link"? Too bad, now you can't cancel it into a special/super. Oh, were you a little off on the input of your double quarter circle fireball motion trying to get your ultra to come out? Well, you did the dragon punch motion, so you get that instead! Oops, now you get punished for doing a DP at a bad time. But then you knew that because you were trying to do the damn fireball instead, right? Don't even get me started on focus attack dash cancels. :P

Skullgirls is the king (queen?) of forgiving inputs. It's one of the things I love about it. The timing on chaining moves together is pretty lenient. There appears to be a larger input buffer for this. Unfortunately (for me), SG is extremely combo heavy. Like, the only game I can think of that is more combo heavy than SG at the moment is maybe Marvel vs. Capcom 3. If you're going to play SG, you need to prepare yourself for this. You will feel like you're watching a cutscene sometimes, and frankly I really dislike this.

If you've ever played Magic: The Gathering, you know the type of player who will load their deck with counterspells and refuse to let their opponent do anything? That's honestly what SG reminds me of at a high level. I have no doubt that there is a subset of players who enjoy just stuffing their opponent like this, and big combos are fun to watch, but it is absolutely no fun to play against because there is almost zero interaction between the players.

If you like big combos, you'll probably enjoy this game. If not, well you can still enjoy it at a lower level perhaps. It's impossible to learn anything when you get combo'd to death. I try to play against other low level players and I have a much better time.

"afaik"?
I just saw a video of KoF and the combo's don't look so bad if you get caught up in it, but at the same time, I kind of would like to be able to do long combo's, it's a bitter-sweet ordeal :P.
What ways are each of them good?
I kind of want to stay away from SF if I could, it's been milked so much I don't even recognize it anymore.

It's so weird how I've never heard of KoF before until almost recently, has this game always been around?

I just downloaded the demo for SG on the x-box and yeah....the computers are very similar to MvC....easy mode = your-not-getting-past-level-one mode. Also, isn't every fighter a good game with freinds, so long as your not freinds with like a torunament champion?
Isn't every fighting game unforgiving online?
Could one make a lobby for new players like in UMvC3?

from what i have read, you will not like skullgirls...kof13 is nice but has not so many people to play against online right now. mk9 has some bad online issues too...i would say ssf4ae but you already wrote that you dont want it..whats about streetfighter x tekken?

Just select "Newbies Welcome" or "Casual Matches Beginner" for your lobby name and if you find people with the same level as you, add them.

Skullgirls is the perfect game for people with the same level because you can do a lot of things, in KOFXIII your will need a lot of time to perform simple combos.
