It's kind of cute to see people pretend that Steam isn't a service for casuals.
It's a pain in the ass to get used to at first, but it eventually a lot more reliable. To me, at least.
Anyway, perhaps some useful information: The way the game works you'll need to press LP or such to enter a part of the menu, by default LP is A, so you press A to do stuff. the MK button can be used to back out of the menu, which is bound to X if i recall, or otherwise whatever is bound to the Select Button function will also do that. (Apparantly F by default, maybe?)
Using this you should navigate your way to Options and find Controls or whatever they where called (curse my overly selective memory), where you can set your buttons. Look for an option that lets you bind them all in one go, it'll offer a brief description of the button and asks you what button you want to use for it, once you've gone through the buttons its highly recommended you try the training mode. If part of the training proves too demanding, perhaps skip that lesson for now and go to the next, the combo-related lessons can be rather difficult at first due to timing requirements.
Edit: Oh yeah, almost forgot, but as far as my first experience went, if the buttons feel uncomfortable while trying to do stuff like combo's, you can change them anytime in training/tutorial or when playing vs the computer to whatever suits better. Might want to not change what the macros do (which is different from assinging a button to them so you can use them), as one quick press of the macro button summons an assist and there's already enough assist/switching related functions in the game to make this a headache to do/remember manually. :P
Is it lonely up there on that throne you've sat yourself upon, hm? Don't be such a rude ♥♥♥♥. Not everyone will have as much Gaming experience as you, and you shouldn't give them ♥♥♥♥ for it. Everyone starts out at their own levels, and some people take gaming more seriously than others. Even if you are great at the games you play, you shouldn't be so ill-mannered to someone who is asking for HELP. ♥♥♥♥.
Thanks for the info.
I started the game for the first time and after some minutes realizing how can i select a menu item, i just got stuck in the key mapping screen because i can't find how to just cancel it or esc. Than i give up and alt+f4.
I play games since the very very early eighties, and PC games since the middle of the eighties. Controllers was default at this time, they came with the CPU and Keyboard, because it was more for gaming than anything else. There was no mouse.
But, since the default gadget of a PC is not a controller anymore, games that has being sold for PC must be made or ported to the default gadgets of this plattform, not just throw a console interface at our faces and move on.
I understand games that was made for PC + controllers, but the customer have to know this before the purchase. "Controller Required" have to be clearly stated in the store front. Or just find a way to put it simple for K&M, like even a pop up showing default "select" and "cancel" keys. Otherwise i find this kind of thing deeply disrespectful.
Anyway, it doesn't matter if you feel confortable playing fighting or platform games with a controller on PC, it's your way and it's fine, but you're not supposed to have one. PCs are supposed to have Keyboard and Mouse, and many players like them for everything, being the default PC gadgets.
Former console Developers and Publishers must pay some atention at this when starting to selling their games for PC. It's like trying to sell a game for XBox that requires a Mouse or Keyboard.
Nope, don't give advice without trying it yourself. Keyboard can be perfectly fine if you have a good keyboard and a good layout. It's basically a more cramped hitbox at that point.
