Huh? This is teen rated?
I just started the game in story mode and chose Ms. Fortune and in the intro movie we watch her get beheaded. When I'm playing the game after she beats her opponent she stars juggling her head. How can that be teen rated?

Well, there really isn't any "Blood and Gore" say like in Mortal Kombat or Dead Space. And every thing else, (like the sexual themes) aren't too over the top, that it becomes distracting. It's definitely at the Teen level for the most part. Plus, it's more comical when you think about it.

I guess it's a loophole, cause she doesn't die. It's probably taken in the same way that robots can get their heads punched off in cartoons.

That's not a big deal.

Just remember, Regular Show got off with a PG rating after airing the decapitation of one main character and the complete flaying of another all in one episode.

America cares more about sex than it does violence.

Beheading people is far beyond a "normal" level violence. It is gruesome snd definitely not appropriate content for 13 year old kids.

You shouldn't lose your head over this. ESRB already pawed this game all over and they cut it all down to T.
people are more worried about the rating of the game than spending time in the training room git'ing gud?

Are you serious? Do you forget what you were like when you were 13 or something? Are you really that old and naive?

When I was 13, I was watching rated R movies all the time, even in theatres. Hell, I started watching porn when I was 11. You seriously underestimate what 13 year olds can handle.

Besides, calling the seen "gruesome" is ridiculous. Did you grow up in the 30's or something? The whole scene was extremely tame.

TEEN

"Content is generally suitable for ages 13 and up. May contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling and/or infrequent use of strong language."

Seems about right.

Decapitation is not "violence" it is "intense violence" . I've personally never seen a teen rated game that has decapitation of a human in it. I've never seen decapitation on the evening news here in the U.S. either. They don't show it because it is an intensely brutal act.

I watched so many gory movies before the age of 10 and I'm not a psycho or anything.

I'm not sure why you would compare Skullgirls to the evening news though. It's more comparable to movies and tv shows, which do show decapitations. Go watch Highlander.

Way back in 1985, Disney's live-action "Return to Oz" had the villainous Princess Mombi trying to decapitate Dorothy, because she wanted to replace her own aging head. Mombi's massive collection of the skulls of all the other little girls she'd decapitated over the years scared the bejeezus out of me.

It was rated PG.

That's because Skullgirls behaves more like a cartoon than real life. Picture the last time you watched an episode of Tom & Jerry. You had some pretty "gruesome" moments, like Tom getting slashed vertically in half by a pike, Jerry being run through a sausage grinder (or whatever you call those things) and coming out the end as a sausage, and Spike's skull being caved in by a falling ironing board. I'm sure there've been moments where the cast of Tom & Jerry have been decapitated as well. That was all okay to air because it was a cartoon; everyone can tell that they're not anything like real life. Of course, when you slash a person in half, or run them through a sausage grinder, or cave their skull in with an ironing board in real life, it's not a pretty sight.

That said, decapitation happens to go under the category of "gruesome acts that aren't bad to see in cartoons." It's the bridge between cartoons and real life that you need to realize exists.

Almost all the Highandler moves are rated R.
