Big Band kinda OP?
I'm still a newb but it still feels tremendous difficulty fighting Big Band whereas i can kinda handle all the other characters by now. When i use him i waltz through arcade or story mode quite easily until the boss, even on hard difficulty. After trying every character against him, Eliza for me is the only one that can handle him better, and still its really hard.

The thing with Big Band is that just about everything he does is quite punishable on block. He may seem intimidating at first with his big armored damaging attacks, but when you notice they can be blocked on reaction and punished with a full combo on his large hitbox, his weaknesses show.
Yes he is slow and easy to hit, problem is all his attacks pack a huge punch and are somewhat fast especially for the amount of damage they do,and his combos land very easily. I can only make barely decent combos (like 30 hits) with about 3 characters, but with Big Band i can easily do a 50+ hit combo without even trying. Everytime i play Big Band i just rock the dpad and press random buttons,i have no idea how to do his combos and still i manage do dominate the opponents (AI of course).

BIg Band's damage output isn't bigger than anyone else's in the game. Hits don't really matter, damage does. Many hits at the start of the combo often scale the damage drastically before you get to the actually damaging part. You can go into training and compare how much damage you get out of Big Band's 50+ hit combo compared to other characters' 30 hit one.

If the 50+ combo actually does noticeably more damage, maybe it just means Big Band clicks with you well. Balance of a character isn't determined in vs AI matches, though. AI doesn't learn, doesn't adapt, and isn't particularly aggressive. It won't take advantage of Big Band's weaknesses, but a human opponent sure will.

I use two characters, Squigly and Filia and I only play against the CPU. I can defeat most teams with only one character but Big Band is aways the hardest as well. His attacks have a huge area of effect and reach very far so it's very hard to get close, and when I get closer he's pretty fast at short range too.

Big Band is good, but he's not broken. He's great against the AI because the AI in this game sort of sucks and doesn't understand how to punish, so you can play really sloppy with him and whiff H Brass Knuckles all day and still pull out a win. A human player, though, will make you eat a 7k damage combo if you try that.

His AI is easy to beat, you just have to know how to punish. What you want to do is hang back on the edge of the screen and wait for him to close the gap on you with Brass Knuckles. (He will always do this.) If you block it, he'll be left wide open and you can easily get a combo on him.

I believe the idea behind his fighting style is that his attacks are quick and rather damaging, but with a vulnerable period afterwards. Also, sometimes his large sprite makes it hard to know wiether you'll hit him or not, because his hitbox is smaller than the sprite.
The thing is, if he gets a quick combo on me, it takes me really long to get back up and big band uses that time to fall back and spam his stomp, which i can't jump over because it comes from all the way back. I can sorta handle him better now, I was just a bit intimidated the first few times I fought him, but still he can be a pain

How so? Big Band has hurtboxes covering all of his body and instruments used in his attacks. The tuba on his back is the only exception: http://i.imgur.com/4u5uOt2.png

The game has been in development for over 2 years, with developers listening to the active community's feedback and releasing regular updates and balance changes to make all characters as polished and balanced as possible for mid-high-top level play. Pretty safe to say no playable character is OP in the game.

Fought. Please god all mighty. NEVER EVER EEEEEEEVER. Write Fighted again.
Any Char is strong when u know how to use it, just big band presented more of a challenge when i first started, still feels a little bit harder to play against him than others but still, when u fight a tryhard player, no matter what char he uses, once he starts the combo, game set and match.
