If the 50+ combo actually does noticeably more damage, maybe it just means Big Band clicks with you well. Balance of a character isn't determined in vs AI matches, though. AI doesn't learn, doesn't adapt, and isn't particularly aggressive. It won't take advantage of Big Band's weaknesses, but a human opponent sure will.
His AI is easy to beat, you just have to know how to punish. What you want to do is hang back on the edge of the screen and wait for him to close the gap on you with Brass Knuckles. (He will always do this.) If you block it, he'll be left wide open and you can easily get a combo on him.
