Mmmh I'll try to acquire more infos on that, in this case.
Would it be wise to wait for Chrono Phantasma? And mechanics wise, if I am comfortable with this game's at mid levels, could I fare decently in BB and GG?
And if you are comfortable with skullgirls, you will have a decent foundation on which to build for blazblue. Would make it much easier then just going in blind. However, do note that blazblue is a much more neutral game in terms of game play. You can't combo nearly as long, so offensive pressure and defensive ability is much more important. Guilty gear is pretty much the same as blazblue with even more unique characters.
You can also try some SNK games like kof series, they're fast and they have short combos...
...But combos in SNK games are not mandatory to win, you might need a good neogeo emulator for that, and some of them has netplay as well.
I have tried a guilty gear game, and personally i didn't liked it, it felt too slow and the jumps were limited just like SF series. Those jumps usually follows this formula:
jump = uppercut (unavoidable damge and knocked back to the corner)
In like marvel, capcom or even skullgirls you can control your jumps by using a attacks or air dash to cancel or manipulate your movement afther you jumped...
but if you want to expand your horizons download fightcade play MvC and Vampire Savior they have a similar pacing to SG and have way shorter combos.
PS: Calamity Trigger doesn't have a half of what CSE has (no tutorial either). It's a lot cheaper, but if you really like fighting games, CSE is a better option and more user friendly.
The only thing that held me back is that CP exists, but I think I'm not gonna die if I spend 15 bucks on Continuum Shift first... and I don't think CP will arrive that soon on PC, so I'll go with Continuum Shift haha
And another thing: as I read that Blazblue has a good story, you said that CS includes Calamity Trigger's story. So I won't miss anything by purchasing CSE?
