Skullgirls won't open?

Skullgirls worked fine for me a couple days ago, but now whenever I try to start it up, literally nothing happens. "Syncing" briefly pops up for a second and Steam says it's preparing to launch Skullgirls, but then nothing happens at all.
I've tried restarting Steam, my laptop, I've even uninstalled and reinstalled Steam and Skullgirls to see if that helped, but nothing has worked at all.
Any help?

I've just checked the Skullgirls.exe file, it's still there, but now it's saying that it's missing a file called d3dx9_43.dll
I'm going to try fixing this myself and then see if Skullgirls works after that

It seems as though once one problem is solved, another arises. Now it's saying XINPUT1_3.dll is missing. I have a feeling tonight's gonna be a long night for me.

Yeah I figured that out and ran the DirectX set up, but now the game gives me the error message "Your video card does not support Vertex/Pixel Shader 3.0" and I just have no idea what to do now.

It's happening with Skullgirls, Skullgirls Endless Beta, and whatever the main issue is I /think/ it might even be going as far as affecting my Microsoft Solitaire Collection.
I might just have to save up and buy a whole new laptop at this point if I can't figure out what's wrong.

I've actually /just/ fixed it! Good thing too, I was just about to give up entirely.

The first thing you should try in the future is to going to your library and right click the game in the left of your library. Go to properties > local files > verify integrity of game cache. Let it run until it's done. You won't be able to use steam until it's done running. If files are missing or corrupted it will redownload them.

This part won't pertain to Skullgirls, but will to other games: If you have mods installed that overwrite game files the original files will be redownloaded and overwrite the mods. You'll need to reinstall the mods in that case after verifying.

Can you tell me how you fixed it? The same problem is happening to me now and I've tried to fix it.
