Any Good Skullgirls Tips?
Im pretty much what everyone can call a "noob" at fighting games cause i really never thought bout buying one in a while and havent played one in who knows long, but recently i bought Skullgirls, so i wanted to ask for any tips to help at getting better at Skullgirls and or Fighting Games in general.

Can someone give me:
*Charecter tips for Filia, Painwheel and Possibly Beowulf
*Controller Maping for 360 Controllers

EDIT: My 360 Controller (sorta) broke so is it possible to play Skullgirls atleast at a average level with a Keyboard til then?

painwheel isn't beginner friendly at all, but i know the feeling of falling in love with a character despite their advanced techniques.

valentine is pretty good for beginners, a lot of her moves give you a lot of time to learn longer combos.

Ok, thanks for the tip c; I really became interested with painwheel and im planning on doing her tutorial after i do Beowulf's.
are there any other charecters that are good for beginners?
I might try Fortune and when i do, buy Eliza, might try her out in the Endless Beta.

Filia is pretty easy to get the hang of. Fortune's a little bit more technical, since there are two "modes" that she can switch between, but a lot of good Fortune players never use headless mode at all. It's not a requirement.

Good luck with Painwheel, her learning curve is a brick wall. The best advice I can offer is, you need learn how to flight cancel. It's the backbone every decent combo she has. Painwheel is also kind of underpowered as a solo, so you might want to give her an assist that can cover her weaknesses. A good anti-air or lockdown move can really help her out.

Thanks for the tip c;, i am planning on using Fortune more than Fila anyways and i might think bout using her Headless mode c;

Her headless mode, in my opinion, is much harder to deal with then normal mode. Having to watch out for the head all the time means you need to split your attention or risk getting comboed.

Yeah that's the thing - you don't NEED to learn headless mode to play Fortune, but mastering it will give you a lot more tools to work with and turn you into a more formidable opponent. Learning it certainly doesn't hurt!

But for a total newbie I would just recommend practicing the basics and saving the fancy stuff for that point in the future where you feel like you've learned everything.

True, im still working on the tutorials and Fortune is on my main list of charecters im going to use. ALOT. are there any other charecters that are easy to get used to?

The problem with Fortune is that a lot of moves can knock her head off. So if you have absolutely no idea how to play Headless Fortune you suddenely just lose the game. It isn't as simple as just calling the head back, because the call back move is incredibly punishable.

Try out Big Band, maybe. He's pretty cool, and his combos mean nearly nothing (for beginners), since he's so damaging. Also, he's great for learning how to react and do mix ups, as well as learning spacing and distance games. Also, he isn't a mash supers to win character, so he'll teach you to use meter wisely/when is it safe to use meter. And he has an OOT-style trumpet attack. Enough said, but I'll say more.
Eliza's easy for me, but she's just my kind of character, some people don't like her, and her mentality/play style may be a bit much. I'd buy big band over her, honestly.
But definitely try Big Band! Fullbleed, one of the BEST fortune players uses her and Big Band as his team. They work great together, and he's got some of the best assists in the game!
He's also great backup for Painwheel.

How bout we bring up another subject, Controls
What do you guys like to play with, im using Keyboard at the moment, a little bit difficult when doing specific moves.

keyboard can be done successfully. It makes 360s hard. Game was built with a traditional pad or stick in mind tho and even with those two it again comes down to preference.

I use a Xbox 360 madkatz Te2 control stick. Yes they dp cost a bit traditionally...and for me at least it's worth it.

I'd recommend switching to a gamepad orfightstick, though. Unless youu can fork over $100+, you can't even use a "keyboard" at a tourney. (Referring to this keyboard style controller I forgot the name of, that's your only option to play keyboard on a console) a fightstick's not much better, but there are some good deals on Ebay. As for gamepads, literally anything, based on your preference. They seem odd to use, but after I was forced into using one after my fightstick went, I found jt very comfortable. Of course, if you want a new controller, make sure it's for ps3, since it'll work on pc and ps3, and the latter's what the tourneys (usually) use.
You may not be thinking tournaments now, but if you like the game enough, then you'll be prepared.

Use whatever is comfortable for you. I've used keyboard from Day 1 and I actually prefer it to controllers. Once you get the hang of it, it's functionally not much different from using a fightstick. The only thing I have trouble with is doing 360 motions, but considering I play Squigly and Big Band, that's not really an issue.

You do have to make sure there aren't any issues with your keyboard, though. Some keyboards have difficulty registering multiple keys at once, so if you're having difficulty getting moves to work, you might need to reconfigure your controls.
