as far as i know yes. The best you can do is remember their name and send them a message but i may be incorrect.

Would be super nice if we could have some sort of in game loby chat or something like that to chat with random ppl who are in game without need to have adding them to our personal friend list in steam.

Or at least be able to message people from our "Recently Played With" list... I can do that with the PS3.

Yes, that would be the end result, evidenced by anyone that has used GFWL. I am glad that random dudebros cannot contact me, and feel that I am all the richer for the lack of interaction with them.

You can still take a screenshot (f12), add a little description and hope your worthy opponent read it. That's what I do.

Well, you can't message them, but if you push shift+tab to get to the steam menu, click on "view players" then "recently played" tab. You'll get a list of who you played and when. If their account is public you can tag up their wall, otherwise send them a friend/group request if you think you want to play them again.

Well, this is a little disheartening, cause on my PS3 I make most of my friends through messages to people I fight in these fighting games. A simple "GG" can do alot I've found.

Me and others have already brought this up a couple millenia ago when the PC version of the game was officially in Beta, but our words were either stifled by a vocal minority that were against a messaging system due to community toxicity, or were simply dismissed completely.

You can't message them from there. You can add them, and hope they'll accept it so THEN you'll get to message them. It's quite bothersome for both parties.

Yeah, wish it were easier to be friendly, but this is still your best route. If the profile is set to "Public" you should be able to post something on their profile page.

No you can't, even if it's public, I've tried.
So even the friendly people have to be on lockdown just cause jerks exist?
