Yes, that would be the end result, evidenced by anyone that has used GFWL. I am glad that random dudebros cannot contact me, and feel that I am all the richer for the lack of interaction with them.

there, you not only can message them, you can add them and even stalk their profile comment section!
You can't message them from there. You can add them, and hope they'll accept it so THEN you'll get to message them. It's quite bothersome for both parties.
Yeah, wish it were easier to be friendly, but this is still your best route. If the profile is set to "Public" you should be able to post something on their profile page.
EDIT: Uhh... maybe you can't even do that. Ah well...
So even the friendly people have to be on lockdown just cause jerks exist?
