Even keyboards are better than that lousy 360 controller :p
Anyway away from trolls and back to topic:
Using something like Joy2key sounds like a decent enough work around. I don´t know the specific controller and how it is implemented.
A quick google search suggest that the Q1 has a xbox and a playstation versions, I would assume that your is a PS3/PC one, so using a mapper from xinput to dinput should help as well.
Though that is still odd, as skullgirls should not have any problems with dinput devices normally. DualShocks should for example work out of the box as well.
Have you checked the menu for controller assignment? Maybe you just forget to assign the Q1 to a player.
The standard Xbox 360 controller works fine though. Can we get a word from a dev if this is going to be fixed?
