Censored sprites

I've recently noticed that many sprites featuring pantyshots got censored at some point, such as Cerebella's missing the air command grab or Filia being KOed. Does anyone know what the idea was behind this? The game already had its T rating a long ago so I don't see why the devs decided to censore themselves. Did they jump on the political correctness bandwagon? Did they suddenly catch the Lucas/Spielberg syndrome? Is Peacock gonna have a radio instead of a revolver in future updates? Do the patch notes in Steam mention these changes?
Honestly, its not such a big deal for me because the game keeps playing as great as it was from the beginning, but it makes me wonder if the devs will keep changing more "controversial" stuff in it just for the heck of it.
You're probably gonna call me a perv, but I've dedicated a decent amount of hours to play the game only because I think the fighting engine is awesome. Fanservice was only a plus.

Its like trying to revert the Valentine + Parasoul modified palette's because of the red cross situation. I tried but the files are just a nightmare to decypher ;^)

The Z-engine does weird checksums on sprites and breaks if anything is modified. Why one would waste time (and engine resources) on this is something only CANCELLED Mike Z could answer.

Also love how the censorship and scandal will be all this game will ever be known for now. Sweet, sweet Karma.

If someone were to have a non updated version from 2015, I think you could get into the files and change it through Skullmod IIRC. However, it's pretty unlikely, as this game wasn't the most popular at the time or now lol. There might be one archivist, somewhere who has it, but if anyone were to really go back and fix it, it would be MikeZ, coming back to undo his ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ after knowing that he can't be cancelled twice, and that the only audience he's likely to get now are the hanger-ons who don't participate in cancel culture and the very same who he pissed off 5 years ago.

They'd have been best off either not touching it at all or not mentioning it. Pity it should really be known for possibly the best fighting game tutorial mode to date.

I was actually Looking up to Skullgirls but now that I know they removed the panty shots and added in sonic fox makes me worried what will happen to skull girls in the future.

You know wrong, then. They didn't remove the panty shots. They redid a bunch of very old frame, some of which included panty shots, some which didn't. The game still has plenty of panty shots. It was just some dumbass extra stupid moral panic by Gamergater morons looking to be offended to fuel their craving for outrage. Some people just WANT to be outraged all the time.

Nothing. The update of old frames was the final update.

Not the final update, this was back with 2E in 2015. Since then we've had 2E+, the netcode improvements, the Combo Breaker update, and there will be an Annie update next year.

For ♥♥♥♥'s sake, it's been five years. That's more years than frames. Move on with your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lives people.

The company that made the game doesn't exist anymore and the people who developed the game may never work together again. There is more to worry than a few panty shots and one furry in the background.
And yes, Autumn Games said they'll still support the game and they'll bring someone to put Annie in the fighting game. Yet that's not happening anytime soon.

Yes, they did. Lying about the censorship never works especially when the guy responsible has been CANCELLED due to the bad karma he got for said censorship. Doesn't matter what excuse you give especially with the recent censorship of games like Shadowverse.
