The gameplay and especially combos in Skullgirls feel very fluid and satisfying due to the beautiful hand drawn animations and loose combo structure. Simple bnbs are also quite easy to get down as the inputs are quite lenient and most of the special moves in this game being QCF(236), QCB (214) or DP's (623) with some characters having full circles. Defense is also very active and fun due to pushblock or undizzy being things to manage while on the defense looking for your opponents resets.
With all that said, the gameplay in this game does get quite crazy as its very reset heavy and due to its age, in quickplay you roll the dice on matching with someone of a similar skill. Although I find matches still quite consistently with quickplay, the game does not really factor skill too much into its matchmaking due to the smaller playerpool similar to other non mainstream fighting games. It is because of this i recommend to practice with a friend or find a sparring partner on the Skullgirls discord or elsewhere of a similar skill level if you want more even matches, otherwise the online is a good place to practice defense.
TLDR: If you enjoy a fast paced fighting game with tons of skill expression and team verity, YES, Skullgirls is worth it.
However, since it has now been firmly established that the current IP owners are a bunch of dishonest pseudo creatives who censor the content we have previously paid for and refer to the people who play "their" game as "creeps," I'd advise against giving them anything more valuable than a wooden nickel. TLDR: Do not offer them anything except your middle finger.
that's the thing that really hurts the value of the game, is that you don't know what content is going to stay and what's going to get erased in the next update.
And no, the cost of the DLC doesn't matter, expensive content is on the chopping block to get randomly deleted later, just as much as anything else in the game.
Just be aware that they deleted a bunch of stuff to appease the twitter mob, including parts of the artbook which had concept sketches. The game you purchase today is not guaranteed to be there tomorrow based on social media "sensibilities".
Also it's worth noting that they can only take away content not add it because the original designer and original programmer are gone. And this engine was built from scratch by a person who is no longer here.
If you want to take a gamble, go for it, but many of us have already uninstalled this abandoned vaporware.
There would certainly not be any updates that improve the game since the person who made the engine (and basically the game) was thrown out since he is a dirty creep like the rest of us.
So no, I wouldn't recommend buying it at the current state.
This never happened.
That's not why they did the update.
This is not true.
Using their official game account, they liked and spread a tweet that openly attacked the playerbase and called its representatives creeps. Here, have some actual captions:

Also, because some people don't know how Steam levels work, anybody with their profile set to "private" is going to appear as a level 0 account to anyone not on their friends list. I'm level 52.
Edit:
Oh, and this one goes out to the OP and other people capable of critical thinking. To get a better understanding of where LV0-kun's loyalties lie, just check the "Do you care about the changes" thread. He made it its permanent residence and protects his masters fiercely.
this game is easily one of my favourite fighting games alongside xrd so i hope if you do try to get into it you enjoy it just as much. its not *the* easiest fighting game to learn and its not *the* most beginner friendly, it has a pretty steep learning curve. but thats mainly just because people have been playing it for more than 10 years now.
also ignore the people who dont play this game who are mad about "censorship" or whatever theyre just trying to have arguements online because they dont have a life
You will never be told something of this sort on the discord that you were shown to, but again if your sole concern is finding online matches then the discord is a good option, I found matches on NASB through discord and that game averaged 20 concurrent players.
