If you want the old version of the game, you can play the old version of the game. If you want the new version going forward, you don't get to pick and choose your own custom build of it. you can find the PS3-Xbox360 Encore versions which were last updated on 2015. But I'd suggest the original Konami Skullgirls version.

In a censored version of the game. What was done with this game mirrors what happened with Sony and OtherOS on the PS3 where they gave PS3 owners with the pre-slim models a choice: update to firmware 3.21 and lose OtherOS or stay on older firmware and don't play the game online any more. It got them a class action lawsuit.
