I just heard about Valentine's new design
With the shuriken instead of the fushia crosses but her sprites still have them. I guess they didn't change her yet.

With the amount of sprites per character, it's might be a while before that change happens.

Sprite work is pretty awesome, but an objective ♥♥♥♥♥ to do right.

I wish they could have just kept the original red crosses. I don't get why we have to have them changed to shurikens now, too.

Supposedly it's a legal issue with The Red Cross organization asking them to change her design. I don't know how true that is since hundreds of games have used a red cross as shorthand for medkits, doctors, nurses, etc.

Something about avoiding potiential lawsuit from the Red Cross because red cross on white background. As for the shurikens, no idea.

It varies a lot I've noticed. But I do believe there is some veracity to the claim as this wouldn't be the first game to change the red cross to something else for that reason.

Doom being the immediate example I can think of.

That issue was resolved back around 2014 when they changed it to pink. I don't think the Red Cross can go back and hit a game nearly a decade layer after they already came to an agreement once before, unless Skullgirls is about to re-release the game or a new one that has the character. Either way, the original game should be able to be left untouched.

I'm starting to think having s team full of former LoL devs has them confused with how selling skins works vs continuing to sell old games

Trademark law. The Red Cross has to protect their trademark logo otherwise they lose it. This is why the red crosses were removed from Earthbound on the SNES when it was localized in 1995.

If that's the case, then they shouldn't be able to do that. The key word there is shouldn't. However, copyright and trademark laws are murky and full of ridiculous stuff.

acutally it was add to more "ninja" to her character she is a ninja nurse but outside of some animations her nurse side is more show off the shurikens were add a little touch to other side

Very true, there are a ton of games that have had to change the crosses to hearts

But the medical crosses being uses as shurikens seems a lot more novel than pink shurikens that don't have as obvious of a medical connotation to them. I liked that she looks like a nurse but then in motion acts like a ninja.

I'm disappointed, I was pretty attached to her old design, but it's a legal issue. Out of their hands entirely, go complain to the Red Cross.

If y'all start another riot over this I will scream.

The Red Cross has not complained about her design for the last decade. Her crosses were already color changed to avoid the issue.

Apparently changing color wasn't enough. They've explained that it is a legal matter, considering that redrawing her sprites is more involved than any other change it's not something they would just randomly do for no reason.

Could you point me to where I can see this? I'm either missing it in the latest updates, or it's being drowned out by all the censorship/backlash articles on google
