MikeZ's autistic behaviours did bring a bit more attention to the game through the controversies alone, but anyone who found out about the game that way has long abandoned it (leaving the same core players it's had for a while).
Dunno honestly, I wouldn't even consider it was that big of an influence (but it depends from person to person, so who knows).
In all honesty, it's still a solid game, it has a fantastic netcode, gorgeous artwork and spritework, and I'd even like to argue it has gotten a bit of a cult status in a good way. But all things considered, it is an indie fighting game in the end, and thus won't have any greater bumps or boosts unless there's tournaments around where it can be promoted - and with most of those possibilities gone with the fact of the biggest tournaments shutting down thanks to the WuFlu, I don't know what can be done.
It's still strong in numbers like KI (if you combine all the userbases via crossplay), but without the aforementioned boosts, nothing new can be done really.
Thanks for the insight on its flaws. Im still fully willing to give the game a shot of course since my last experience was the alpha demo thing. I also love a lot of the character designs even if some changed to ones I dont quite like as much as the original looks over the games development.
This note is interesting.
This should have been posted in it's own thread.
Try KI, it's a good rollback FG and has a solid crossplay in it's casual/lobby audience.
and also i feel like when annie hits people will play even more.
there are lots of people who are actively playing it, but it's true that most of them are veterans, new players aren't that many, although there was a lot of new people around since SG was annonced to be in I can't remember which Fighting Game Turnament.
