OP Characters That Need to Nerfed/Banned
While I originally bought Skullgirls because I believed it was pretty well-balanced fighting game, I’ve sadly realized that there are several characters who are extremely broken, and need to be either heavily nerfed or banned from online play. Here is a list of the worst offenders and why they should be banned.

FILIA- Filia is WAY too good at rush down for a so-called ‘shoto-clone’. Air-dash cancels let her launch fast overheads with insane reach, and coupling her air-dash and Hairball lets her punish projectiles from nearly full-screen. If that wasn’t enough, she gets Ringlet Spike instead of the traditional fireball, a move which comes out almost instantly instead of traveling the screen, and drops her hitbox low enough to avoid most projectiles, which gives her an easy method of punishing projectiles. On top of her rush-down ability, Filia’s also got a hard-hitting anti-air with invincible start-up, which also has a super variation, so she’s every bit as good at shutting down jump-ins as zoning. That’s way overpowered.

CEREBELLA- It’s not exactly a secret that Mike Z has a fetish for grapplers, and it really shows in how broken Cerebella is. Her Merry-Go-Rilla is an unblockable with absurd reach that hits hard and can even be comboed into a Super. Excelebella has a massive hitbox that easily snuffs any attempts at jump-ins. Most grapplers are balanced by their difficult getting close, but it’s almost impossible to keep Cerebella out. She can glide over projectiles, deflect them, or just use her armored moves to plow through them. To add insult to injury, her Ultimate Showstopper does roughly twice as much damage as most Lvl. 1 Supers, and is unblockable. Quite possibly the most broken grappler in gaming.

MS. FORTUNE- This character is just… nuts. Stupidly high mobility, high low mix-ups all over the place and insane combo potential even without working the corner. She’s also got terrific reach on several of her normals, and one of the furthest reaching anti-airs in the game. This is all without addressing her Head mechanic. She’s so good she barely even needs it, and it pushes her firmly into broken territory. Trying to defend against one character with rushdown this good is already a nightmare, but Ms. Fortune can LITERALLY be in two places at once. Not to mention her head’s hurtbox is too low to be hit most projectiles, and she can use Zoom! to punish zoners, in case her mobility wasn’t enough of a counter to zoners already.

PEACOCK- Zoning characters are always annoying to fight, but Peacock is downright nightmarish. A triple projectile is already pushing the envelope, but use of George’s Day Out and Airshow, coupled with Impending Shadow can make it so nowhere on screen is safe. Trying to get to Peacock is difficult enough, but she caps off her insane plethora of projectiles with a teleport that is also invincible on start-up. Oh, and as if she’s not already insanely broken enough already, she’s got a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hit-invincible melee attack that knocks you full-screen distance. Doesn’t Mike Z know zoners are supposed to be bad at melee!?

PARASOUL- Why have a character with broken zoning or a character with broken rushdown when you can have BOTH!? Parasoul has terrific mix-ups up close, good reach and can land massive combos once her mix-ups overcome your guard, which they will. Generally you’d be able to beat out a character like this by keeping them at a distance, but Parasoul’s obnoxious at full-screen as well. She can use her Napalm as an anti-air projectile or to set traps that make navigating the stage extremely difficult. Trying to win a projectile war against her is usually doomed, since she can just summon an Egret to take the bullet for her, completely snuffing your best projectile attacks, or she can use her motorcycle assist to bounce you close to her and hand her a free combo. Oh, and she’s got a homing Super with nigh-instant startup that is also a combo starter. Ya know. Just cuz.

PAINWHEEL- What the hell is this monstrosity… ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chargeable super-armored normals? In the air? That gain power when you hit her? Oh, and one of them also counts as an over-head, and—dear god, did she just use an armored Hard normal as a combo-starter? As if her stupid combo-damage and mix-ups weren’t bad enough, she’s the only character in the game who can fly. You’d think she’d at least be limited to melee rush-down, but NOPE. She’s got chargeable projectiles that can also function as anti-air. Oh, and she can shoot five of them at once, in case you were thinking of using armor to get through those. So broken in sooo many ways…

VALENTINE- Were they actually trying to make this one broken? Crazy speed and combo ability, massive hit-boxes on her air normals, an air-dash seemingly built for cross-ups… why does she even need a command grab? And why does it have so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reach? Her regular grab is already stupidly easy to combo out of. Oh, and air-fireballs. Because she’s apparently freakin’ SSF2 Akuma. She can buff her fire-balls so they poison you or make it even easier to combo you, if all that other stuff wasn’t enough to cement her as horrifically overpowered.

DOUBLE- I initially thought Double wasn’t particularly great at any one thing, but then I realized that’s because she’s great at everything. Her projectile comes out incredibly fast and can also be used as an anti-air, she has massive reach on her Cilia Slide, her Flesh Step lets cross-up on a whim and her air-combos can hit for massive damage thanks to her ability to turn into a refrigerator and fall on you. She can also land a Lvl. 1 Super from full screen off her projectile, which not only crosses you up but also puts her in the perfect position to mix-you up on wake-up. Horribly broken, a huge pain to fight against.

BIG BAND- Now this guy, I think we can all agree on. Massive damage on even short combos, armored attacks with stupid reach, a freakin’ full-screen distance unblockable? Absolutely broken. Giant Step gives him a fast, damaging overhead with terrific reach that can also combo-start, which is already silly, but why the hell does he gets such an amazing Air Super? Heavies aren’t supposed to be this freakin’ combo happy, damnit.

SQUIGGLY- Like… why even try to zone Squiggly? Sure, she’s kinda slow on the ground, but that barely even matters when she has multiple methods of dragging you into melee range. Not to mention she has great air-normals, a double-jump, and a dive-kick that extends her combos. All of her specials can be charged, and her Lvl 1 Supers include an unblockable grab with good reach that is also a combo-starter and a lingering pseudo-projectile that comes out instantly. Horribly broken up close, and has a million ways to get there.

BEOWULF- Beowulf is one of those characters who just has way too much going for him. Alpha Clinch makes it stupidly easy for him to combo into any of his command throws, and the Hype mechanic allows him to easily chain together command grabs for stupid amounts of damage. Wulf Shoot allows him to threaten from an absurd distance, and his chair gives him tremendous reach on his normals on the ground and in the air. In addition, the chair gives him a decent projectile and anti-air options, and the fast recovery on his dash gives him a massive boost to his approach.

ELIZA- Eliza’s mix-up game is astonishing, fueled by her massive J.HP, her standing overheads, Horus’ Dive and her sliding low attacks. You’d think her poor foot speed would cripple her ability to get in, but she can air-dash, or just use her unblockable, homing grab with infinite range, which also hands her a free combo. Like… I know she’s shown as one of the most powerful characters in canon and actually makes Marie seem like the underdog at points, but maybe not have her be that broken in game? In addition to her stupid Albus grab, she can pester you from a distance with her henchman, and has a launcher with half-screen reach. What the hell’s that about?

ROBOFORTUNE- An in-joke character should not be this broken. She’s got fast projectiles, projectiles that linger making it hard to approach her, homing projectiles and mines that make her a monstrous zoning character, but also has strong air-normals and a standing overhead with terrific reach that can easily combo into either of her Supers. Approaching her is a massive pain, and if she decides to stop playing keep-away and start pressuring you, you’ll find out she’s just as much of a nightmare up close.

FUKUA- What even is this? A rush-down character? A zoner? A grappler? I guess Mike Z couldn’t decide which archetype to go with, so he just made her be everything at once. Free-mixups with absurd reach off her Forever a Clone, and her J.HK makes jump-ins brain-dead easy. Her clones can also function as pseudo projectiles, because her actual projectile (which comes out quick and has a versatile flight paths) somehow wasn’t enough. In addition to her vanilla command grab, she has an untechable grab with hyper armor, that is also a combo-starter. That’s just… that’s the kind of ♥♥♥♥ you’d expect to see on an SNK boss, not a playable character. She’s also got two excellent reversal options in her H. Drillationship and BFF, and is just about the only character with two Lvl. 1 Air Supers. Because she somehow wasn’t versatile enough already.

In conclusion, the characters listed above are all extremely overpowered, and either need to be nerfed or banned outright to restore balance. I hope to see a patch within the next few weeks, so that I am not required to actually get good at the game.

I have no idea what would you make consider the possibility that is anything less than my sincere observations on the horrible imbalance of Skullgirls. The only characters who isn't broken is Marie, but she's so bad she's practically a joke character.

Seriously, who thought a character who can't block, can't use launchers, can't air-combo, has no supers and can't even jump was a good idea? Marie is easily the worst character in the game. I don't know why she's banned from Online Play, but it doesn't even matter, since no one would play her online even if she was available. No wonder she lost the DLC vote.
