Forced PvP is killing the game
Good riddence. Another game that had potential but the management team dropped the ball. Don't know who did their market analysis but they are probably in for a malpractice suit.

I think this game shouldn't be pvp only or pve only. Both boring af. It's closer to pvp only at the moment. Monsters are there for a reason but currently they are working as "noob bait". A noob slays them and their weapon makes lots of sound so pvp hunters just go kill them for the loot they collected. Pve should be more rewarding or ignoring monters should get punished somehow so both aspects of game get more enojyable.

PVP vs. PVE - my thoughts. Whichever you reward will be the way people play. PVP is killing my game play. I'm happily grinding along and then - wham, some AHOLE steals my fire and I lose my wish to play. A couple ways this could be more fun:

Gate PVP - so that you can only attack people who are near your equal, giving them a chance to fight back. This can be by matchmaking people based on gear score and level into a given dungeon. Or, add auras to players. If they are greater than you, they have a red aura. if they are equal, they are green, and if not equal, blue. If you attack players that are blue, you have a chance to LOSE something to them even if you kill them. If you fight equal, you get gold. If you kill something red, you get to keep a piece of the opponent's gear.

Matchmaking is based on gear score now. But what you just described is a game in which no one would gear up because gearing up means they lose even if they win and people with no gear are the strongest solely because they can attack without consequence. They may as well stay gearless and profit with gold/pieces of gear from people who made the mistake of gearing up.

PVE and PVP are both as rewarding to their level of risk as eachother. Fight npcs, get a few purps for free, risk purps, get more purps.

It's not that people are playing the most profitable and rewarding way, most people lose gear to pvp, the best get it all. It's that win or lose, most people find the pvp fun.

Rather, the game needs to introduce more objectives throughout the run, more expansive dungeons, so that players can be distracted by PVE, rather than gain more benefits solely from PVP. Just like that!

Yeah I support that! It would be good for pve farmers because they would have more fun in complicated dungeons full of many different creatures. Meanwhile the pvp enjoyers would enjoy it a lot too because there would be even more juicy loot on other players.

Looks like he was completely scrubbed from the forums, and based on some of his responses (like calling other people "Nazis"), it really should've happened long ago. Glad I took the time to go through his comment history and flag every single one. :steamhappy::steamthumbsup:

No point in giving him any more attention. Just move on.

Its not permadeath. Google that FFS. And there is nothing about extraction that requires PvP. But of course even if both of those were true that has nothing to do with the market forced that are driving the games initial player base to other games.

As for me, the community is already turning toxic over this issue, so I'm uninstalling. Not rage quitting, just dont care to play yet anoooother grindy sweatfest.

My response: I have been ripped up by guys with much better gear that I have. I am only taking in heirloom pieces at this point, and not taking in any green or better gear because I don't want to lose it. I haven't gotten deep enough in the game to figure out how to keep what I own other than a sword and armor piece. My solution would allow for PVP, but not for loot-farming other players. It would make it a real choice whether to attack another player, rather than a farming opportunity for people who enjoy PVP and/or ruining other people's games.

LowIQ says: PVE and PVP are both as rewarding to their level of risk as eachother. Fight npcs, get a few purps for free, risk purps, get more purps.

My response: That is only true if you are good at PVP. If you find the npc's challenging enough, then PVP is not fun. It's like being jumped by a boss - and not only that, but when you respawn, you're naked. All you have worked for is gone. Player ability is not taken into account any more than gear is for matchmaking. (I realize now that there is an arena. Perhaps that is where you see matchmaking, but I have no interest in arena to know.)

LowIQ says: It's not that people are playing the most profitable and rewarding way, most people lose gear to pvp, the best get it all. It's that win or lose, most people find the pvp fun.

My response: players should drop something random from their inventory upon death like NPC's do as loot for the victorious player. Another solution is challenge: make it so to fight another player you must issue a challenge and it must be accepted. Put a little honor into it. I have enough trouble shuffling inventory. I really don't want to fight other players.

And before you say: 'get good or get lost' I would posit that if the game is designed as a PVP game, they should take the 'E' out of PvEvP or whatever. The advertisements should tell people straight up: if you don't like being ripped up by other players while dungeon-crawling, this game is not for you.

A lot of the time when you're attacked by a guy in blue while you're in a green set it's because they went in there with maybe like a blue and a couple of greens but they killed players and monsters and got more good gear over the course of the game.

I don't think the main game should be what you want it to be or move towards that, and I doubt it will. But it sounds like a reasonable game mode of its own I just think that it would have to have reduced loot or it gives people they opportunity to grind bis gear with little risk and then take that to the full pvp and exploit an advantage.

I wouldn't say that to you. And Idk why you'd think I would. In terms of what advertisements say, it specifies pvp combat as its first category tab, there's like 3 trailers with pvp gameplay and pvp cinematics where in the end, in everyone of them, one guy kills everyone for all the treasure and leaves.
Azzazel Aug 18, 2024 @ 10:47am
I would not be against some pve and pvp only dungeons, everyone enjoys the game as its pace, you can introduce harder npcs on pve mode or more challenging mechanics, while pvp can remain like this, i dont see why this would be such a bad idea. If you are a try hard sweat boy who enjoys pvp and killing players, enjoy it, if you are a soy squishy boy that dont want social interaction, have it, theres enough game for everyone
