TL:DR - Either use a large ship ore detector on a good ship with plenty of H2 fuel, or search nearby asteroids for better fuel efficiency in space.
Yukii, you're best bet is just to have a large ship with an ore detector (or the trick where you have a small ship, and place a small rotor with a large rotor part {if that's still possible in the most recent version})
However, I would tell you from experience that I think it's much easier to find a nearby asteroid frist for some plat. It's not much harder on the moon with such low gravity, and it's not much harder with hydrogen you have made a good ship with a lot of tanks for fuel, but if you started on the planet, it's much easier to go searhing for asteroids. I built a large cargo-miner with like 6 H2 tanks, with about 4-6 small hyro thrusters on all sides and a large on in back. I used large atmo thrusters for coming back to planet (I also put on 2 large hydro thrusters facing downward since atmo thrusters would take too long to work and I'd crash, so I use those 2 large thrusters to do a re-entry burn to slow down once I get below 20km or exceed 250-300m/s)
Every ore can be found on the moon (unless) the server owner has changed that
I own a server and it can be found deep or shallow i use a small miner to scout ore pockets for our bigger goliath miner just keep looking for it.
