No Platinum on the moon. Astroids only

^ Ox, I have indeed found Plat on the moon just a couple of weeks ago when I was playing vanilla with a friend on LAN. It was hard to find and took a while, but it is there.

TL:DR - Either use a large ship ore detector on a good ship with plenty of H2 fuel, or search nearby asteroids for better fuel efficiency in space.

Yukii, you're best bet is just to have a large ship with an ore detector (or the trick where you have a small ship, and place a small rotor with a large rotor part {if that's still possible in the most recent version})

However, I would tell you from experience that I think it's much easier to find a nearby asteroid frist for some plat. It's not much harder on the moon with such low gravity, and it's not much harder with hydrogen you have made a good ship with a lot of tanks for fuel, but if you started on the planet, it's much easier to go searhing for asteroids. I built a large cargo-miner with like 6 H2 tanks, with about 4-6 small hyro thrusters on all sides and a large on in back. I used large atmo thrusters for coming back to planet (I also put on 2 large hydro thrusters facing downward since atmo thrusters would take too long to work and I'd crash, so I use those 2 large thrusters to do a re-entry burn to slow down once I get below 20km or exceed 250-300m/s)

platinum that I have found on the moon have been DEEEEEEP. like 220m down. So, to find it, you need large grid ore detectors cranked up to max range

Every ore can be found on the moon (unless) the server owner has changed that

I own a server and it can be found deep or shallow i use a small miner to scout ore pockets for our bigger goliath miner just keep looking for it.

peace

Take any deposit you've found on the moon and just a hand drill to dig about 50m past the depth of the material you've found already. Takes about 5 min per patch. If you don't see anything at 100m down look elsewhere. I've seen every material at surface level (>50m) and many more at the 100-150m
