resolution change out of game?

hi, so i used to play space engineers using an AVG cable! it was broken so i upgraded to an HDMI cable. my problem is the HDMI uses a strange resolution (1804 - 1036) wide screen. I am unable to start up space engineers as i get a blue screen as though its got nothing connected to it. Is there a way i could change the screen res without loading into the game?

I did see a post showing to look for an ini file in the prefs but i cant find this file what so ever and its getting kinda old trying to find this so called ini file!

Is there anyone who can help?

In "%APPDATA%\SpaceEngineers\SpaceEngineers.cfg" file change values of the following items:

    <item>
      <Key xsi:type="xsd:string">ScreenWidth</Key>
      <Value xsi:type="xsd:string">xxxx</Value>
    </item>
    <item>
      <Key xsi:type="xsd:string">ScreenHeight</Key>
      <Value xsi:type="xsd:string">yyyy</Value>
    </item>

(You can open the file directly for example by pressing Win+R keys, then writing "notepad %APPDATA%\SpaceEngineers\SpaceEngineers.cfg" and pressing enter.)
