Can't play, steam stuck in Validation loop [Fixed]
Ok i just tried to launch the game and now steam keeps showing that there's a download but when it reaches 100% it restarts, when i check the list view it keeps saying validating. also when i first tried to launch it started an update, then said it failed to update because of corrupted files. is this a steam problem or an SE problem?

Didn't fix for me either. Now it's just stuck and won't download the files for installation. All other games work fine except for this f/%)# sh#¤)( game.

yeah , just got the same problem today, just goes into a validating loop.

edit: I think antivirus might have caused it. Restored the files it removed while updating, but is now corrupted.

I'll need to install it again.

I think it has something to do with a bad file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading as I tried deleting SE and then downloading/reinstalling. The download kept stalling. After a drive scan and defrag, and then trying to download again, it still kept stalling. Deleting all the files/directories in the previously mentioned folder seemed to do the trick as SE is now happily downloading. The steam download folder is only used when games/patches are downloading so it won't affect installed games.

No problem. I had the same problem on my tower (I have a laptop that I take with me for gaming when going to my parents house). However, for some reason the above did not fix it. I had to delete SE and the downloaded files and reinstall. Note that saved gamed and mods are not deleted when deleting SE as these are in a separate folder elsewhere on the hard drive
