Help resolving a corrupted save file.
I have recently downloaded Space Engineers and it is a really great game. My laptop has been having some difficulties maintaining battery, so I must save when moving from one location to another. Upon saving and moving, my laptop lost power like normal. After logging back onto Space Engineers, I attempted to access my loaded file and there was nothing except for an error message. After trying many methods of fixing I decided to give up and start a discussion about this. If someone is willing to help me with my save that would be great. I have roughly 75-90 hours of survival game play on this level. Plus a massive ship I had been working on. I saved an earlier stage of the ship as a blue print, but I had many other smaller ships. Would be awesome for someone to help me get going again! I am more than willing to give you my save file if need be.

Have you tried SEToolBox? It might not be able to repair your save file, but you might be able to extract your ships from it.

I have not tried that! I am new with steam in general, if you don't mind me asking, what exactly is SEToolBox?

So, I looked over SETool Box and it would not load my world. Any other suggestions?

Hi elite224488, try by modifying the advanced settings of the world.

Maybe something is breaking in the world, so the options I would change first is the destruction blocks and Voxel destruction > OFF

You could try no spiders, no drones ... Find it.

:ai_repair:

In alpha game test I always backup my creations.

Use the save as on any new adding to the world, just add a number at the end of the world name. I think I have 100 copies of my best world.

Alpha = Make copies!

I will try this and see what I can come up with!

So I have run into some complications. It will not even show the level in the loading screen. So, I am not sure how I will be able to edit it. Also, SETool box does not recognize it as a level. I can not retrieve my ships from the level.

I don't use SEToolbox for my corrupt worlds, usually just modifying the advanced options it fixes it.

I don't understand the ''level'' thing, sorry.

It's ok, my world doesn't show up when you click on load world. Yet, it says that there is a corrupted world. So I really have no clue.

Hi elite224488, is it a very old world?

Cause > I have old worlds that I can't see in the new version but I see them with the old_multiplayer version,
so if it's an old world you should try by installing the old version of the game > load the world and bleuprint all your ships.

After that you reinstall the planet version and paste all your ships in.

How to install the old version :
- Right click on Space Engineers in your Steam Library.
- Go to properties.
- Go to BETA tab.
- Choose the ''old_multiplayer''
- Try the game

:alert:
Sometimes when I do the switch ''New <to>Old'' I need to delete the CFG file before loading the old version or before loading the new version, to reset the game to default.

How to delete the CFG file:
Go to the SpaceEngineers folder
C: users / your username / appdata / roaming / spaceengineers
then DELETE the ''SpaceEngineers .cfg'' file

EDIT : correction DELETE the CFG

Would you consider old as in a month ago? I'm assuming you mean more than that maybe?

Yes older, before the planet update.
Find your save and try by changing the settings of the world in the '' SANDBOX_0_0_0_ . sbs ''
If you know how to modify the save file, you could try but backup the save first.

If you can't fix, well just rebuild your ships and next time don't forget to use the ''Save as'' button. :Finger2:

OK! Thank you, I got the game after the planet update, so my worlds' aren't very old! I tried doing what you suggested but to no avail. If you don't mind, I have another question. When using the "save as" option for me, it just overwrites the last save of the level, rather than making another copy of the game.. What do you think about that? I am going to start making world copies from the appdata as a major back up sort of thing. Again, thank you for your support!

elite224488, when you use the ''Save as'' you have to add a number at the end of the world name before clicking on ''Yes'' this will create a new save and you will be in the new save, the first world you were in will not be changed. :caster_wink:

EDIT :

Looks like this

I decided to forget about the old world and start new! I plan on using your method of saving so that I have multiple saves! Thank you for your assistance!
