[FIXED] The current version of the game requires a Dx11 card.
I have played the game successfully a long time ago, but now I encounter this problem when I try to open the game through steam.

I have an ATI Radeon HD7850 and dxdiag tells me it's Dx12.

As suggested by the community, I looked for the SpaceEngineers.cfg file inside AppData/Roaming/SpaceEngineers, but there is not such a file there.
I also verified the game files for errors inside steam, but all files were validated successfully.

My next attempt would be to reinstall the game, but since it would take a while (mainly because of my slow internet speed), I'd like to know beforehand if there would be any other less time consuming alternative (and maybe more certain of success).

What else can I do? Can anyone please help me?

Make you don't have an integrated Graphic cause the game may use this one.

things you could do :

1- Unistall the game, delete all remaining files and folders in SE appdata and in Steam.
> Reinstall the game

2- Graphic Drivers uptodate.

3- Fresh install of the graphic driver > That means unistall All Graphic drivers, when done > Delete all remaining Graphic Drivers and Graphic folder on the C: Drive, Reboot the computer and install the latest AMD Driver with Catalyst.

:alert:

If you delete all game files > You may keep the ''Saves'' and ''Blueprints'' folders in the appdata if you don't want to lose any.

Ok, assuming I don't have an integrated Graphic, would I be able to play other games, like Fallout 4, GTA V, etc?

I ask because I can use my computer normally. This is the only game that presents me with a problem. Uninstalling and reinstalling this game is going to take a lot of time, I'd just like to be sure.
Dan Jul 15, 2017 @ 4:28pm
Just to let you know, opting-in BETA allowed me to open the game in Dx9.
Dan Jul 15, 2017 @ 4:29pm
And it created this SpaceEngineers.cfg (there was none before):

Sometimes just deleting the .cfg file and the 2 ShaderCache folders in SE appdata fixes the problem but you said that there was no CFG file so the reinstall and deleting all game files would be the best.

Maybe the CFG file is there but you don't see the files extensions in your Windows cause those are hidden usually.

How to show :

Ah! I was typing in the same time ...

Delete the CFG and the 2 ShaderCache folder and start the game.

Don't worry > those files will be created new on loading.

I can see all hidden files in my computer (AppData is one also, and I can see it).
Running the game in DX9 created the cfg file, but turning back to DX11 still no luck.

There are only 4 files and 2 folders inside SE appdata folder:

Mods (empty folder)
Saves (folder)
SpaceEngineers.cfg
SpaceEngineers.log
VRageRender.log
VRageRender-DirectX11.log

I can't find any ShaderCache folder.
Dan2D3D  [developer] Jul 15, 2017 @ 5:01pm
No ShaderCache = it's normal cause the game must load for those folders to be added.

You will have to try the solutions in my comment #3
Dan Jul 15, 2017 @ 5:04pm
Ok then, if there is no other way...
Reinstalling 10GB+ of data is going to take a while though...

You could try the fresh install of the Graphic driver first.
Dan Jul 15, 2017 @ 5:18pm
Woudn't I be having problems with other games if it was a graphic cards driver problem?

Reinstalled the game. The problem persists.
