Game crashes while having Firefox in the BG running Youtube or Twitch.
It also crashes Firefox along with it. Now, I do not know as to why this happens with this game but 99% of the time, other games I run have no problem running stuff in the background. Maybe there is some type of conflict going on between Codecs or something. I honestly have no idea.

I know I am probably one of the very few that even do this while playing the game, it is a nusiance but I can get around it by not playing the game, which is unfortunate.

I have hardware acceleration disabled in FF just FYI. If that does/helps with anything.
Hope it gets looked into but I am not getting my hopes up too high.

Glad I am not the only one this has happened to...

Ah, I see I am not the only one that has encountered this issue. I am quite sure that the player base for this game is not that big, but if someone knows of a fix it would be great. Any help is appreciated!

@MinionJoe I think that's a bit much to ask for haha xD

Fair enough. The alternative would be to stop playing Space Engineers until it's finished.

Did you even bother to read the entirety of my post? haha.

I have a good (old) computer and Having A lot of fun playing but it does not like ''alt-tab'' + Youtube / Twitch videos when I play games, any of my games. :steamsad:

Sometime I use alt+tab for Moderator alerts and I'm ok but not all the time.

My guess is the massive memory leak that SE is currently suffering. I'd suggest checking your RAM usage while in game.

As an alternative, Steam has a web browser built into the overlay. You might try using that instead. It doesn't actually minimize the game when you activate it, so I find it's less finicky.

It uses more since I have installed 16 Gb = it now uses 6 to 8Gb RAM and I was using only 6Gb RAM = the game never been above 4Gb in the same world that now use 6Gb when I play.

I have seen no memory leak significant enough to even call it more than small. Played for 6 hours. No memory change or processor load above 6 gb.

Yes. Alt-tabbing seems to be a culprit in all this! I do have 16GBs of ram and I do not notice any slow downs from full memory or such.

I can agree with stoicboss101 on this.

Neo,

no it's ok for me, I did not noticed any ''slow downs from full memory or such'' when I play.

I've noticed that my worlds loads faster, good fps/simpeed and I have more than Huge ships in :caster_wink:

You could give them your Crash log > They are asking for it in the Guide of the bug report section.

this is the weird thing with PCs, for example, I can have not 1 but two browser open while playing SE, with the recording software running, Alttabing all the time, checking Steam, Alttabing again to change youtube music video. or even watching/listening to a Livestream AltTabing 1000000 times while playing SE, and never a crash. (don't jinx it) and I have been doing this even when I had an old and slow PC with a cheap graphic card

windows, as an OS, is great but its also not very stable all things considered. windows software has a tendancy to degrade over time. so running programs that take control of your pc completely (games) telling it to switch on a dime is difficult. i personally believe it has little to do with the game software, and more of how windows handles the demand.

Uninstall firefox

get chrome
I've just finished 3 hours of space engineers with youtube playing in the background using firefox. Solid as a rock. Windows 7 x64

Not to discount the problem you're having - just a data point, for what it's worth.

Is the crash log in the game directory? I got some pretty weird errors. One of them said "Hard error unknown" or something like that (maybe unknown hard error, something among those lines.)

Thanks for your input. The game does not immediately crash I must admit and it does take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes to crash. It could be something on my end I just cannot quite tell what it is.

Do you happen to have autosave on? Maybe that is something affecting it with the alt-tabbing.
