Smaller Antenna on large ships ?
Hello - as the name apllies i would like to be able to use some smaller version of current antenna on big ships - for eg smth like sattelite dish ? - 3x3x1 or 3x3x2(a dish on a mount) there are few instances when that big antenna is just too bulky - but as a manner of balance that smaller version could have lower max range. What do you think mates ? - smaller antenna would be a welcome addition especially in view of recent remote control block :)

Well i tend to stick to vanilla type of game - it has some limitations as seen above - thats why i would prefered to have choice in the matter of antennas - but good to know i might try it out - thank you :)

You can also do the rotor trick and attach a small ship antenna to your large ship.

Build a large rotor, the get out your drill, and drill away the top part.
Place a small ship landing gear on top of the rotor base, and place a small rotor on top of that.
Now drill away the landing gear and the base of the small rotor. (leaving the top part behind)
Now just give the small rotor top a little nudge in the right direction and it will join itself to the large rotor base.

Once that's done you can mount a small ship antenna onto the new rotor you've created.
Of course you will be a little restricted in range since it's only a small antenna, but on the plus side the power drain will be minimal.

Actually I've experienced problems with that whole idea :

One - You need to balance the center of mass
Two - You can't control drones by that method (Trust me I tried)

Well, the center of mass issue is pretty minor. The mass of the antenna is tiny compared to the mass of even a little large ship. So whilst the antenna may cause a tiny amount of drift, it should be so small that you'll hardly even notice it.

The remote control thing is a more relevant point, but only affects you if you're planning to use this ship via remote or controlling drones from this ship.

actually i was thinking about using smaller dish - for remote control suff - and good question is if ore detector could send info on ores throught that setup - for eg ore detectors dont transmit data when connected on stuff via piston and i think its the same with rotors :(
