So even if there was DirectX support for Mac OS (and I think there was at one time) then Apple would also need to license .Net Framework and any other Windows technologies that Keen uses within SE.
After all that was accomplished then Keen would actually have to port their code, test and release it for the Mac OS.
Given that they have stated that their intent is to "release" the Windows version of SE as quickly as possible and move on to a "new game" I just see what you are asking for as a practical impossibility.
Sorry.
To the best of my knowledge there is no version of DirectX which is compatible with both SE and MacOS. There is no .NET Framework version for MacOS that is compatible with SE either. And Keen has expressed NO intention to port their game to MacOS even if these things existed.
If you search for "Mac" or "Linux" you'll find that at least once per week someone comes to the forum to ask whether the game will run on or will ever be ported to these other platforms. This has occured since the game was first released on Steam almost 5 years ago. The answer to their question is "No."
If you think my comments express "hopelessness" at the chances that you will be successful then you have viewed my comments correctly.
Now that you have all the information that I am able to provide you may proceed to tilt at this windmill as much as you desire.
I'll even wish you luck in your endeavor.
Just understand that most of those videos have multiple people working cooperatively to produce a slick looking video to showcase a mod or ship. When you look at those videos ask yourself, "How many hours of preliminary work did they do to setup their arena or whatever?"
You will most likely not have a group of experienced friends working together for hours to produce 15 minutes of "fun." You will most likely be playing alone and trying to figure out why something doesn't work the way you think.
Go watch a few Solo Survival Series. I think you'll notice a couple of things. First, they quickly defeat the "survival" portion of the game. After that, survival can bog down into using your existing resources to build more production capacity or waiting for materials to process.
Second, the environment presents you with few if any real threats.
And finally, sure you may have a cube of space 6.6 AUs in diameter, but you'll actually be playing in a rather small area most of the time. There is little incentive to explore that vast area because one km cube of space is almost identical to another.
