"Ender chest" in SE?
Forget what is "canon" or what ever - I just like to have more fun.
And thus, while messing around with storage, i was wondering if there is a mod that has the same feature as the "Ender chest" in Minecraft.
If you don't know what the "Ender chest" is, just google it, there is tons of websites and information on this little useful chest.
It would be cool to have a storage container in Space engineers with same function.
And i'm fairly certain it woulden't be to hard to make. But that is mostly just a guess.

If anything, i'd like to discuss this with you people.

Having a container that you could open from anywhere in the game and access your inventory would be too overpowered. You would be able to abuse it like crazy to set up remote mining outposts, and then pull the ore out from your station.

If you are just talking about opening the inventory from anywhere on your ship or station, then you can already do it.

Unless I'm not understanding what you mean by ender chest. Do you just mean that you want a chest that only displays certain inventory for a specific player? I'm sure that could be done, although its just as easy to have cargo boxes for each player with their ownership, and the rest of the ship set to shared.

If you put an antenna on the grid which contains your storage you can access the inventory of the grid thru your suit's antenna. You can also queue up components and most other thing that you could do if you were accessing the control panel directly.

The main thing you cannot do is to transfer items from your grids inventory into your personal inventory via the antenna.

This...
You hit the nail...
BAsiclly the power of an Ender Chest.

Just an idea that could be fun to mess with - As for calling it overpowered - I don't think neither me or you have the right to claim that on behalf of everyone else.

I would love to have such a chest/cargo container.

And i'm sure there is a few other people out there would enjoy such a mod.

As for weather it would ever be made, that remains to be seen.
(Though, as mentioned, i'd love for it to be made)

Your idea is an anathema to the basic concept of Space Engineers as defined by Keen's founder.

Space Engineers is inspired by reality and is played in an environment that can be completely altered by the player. No fake buildings with empty interiors. No fake doors leading to nowhere. No lights, computers or thrusters receiving power from some abstract source. No inventory located “somewhere” in the ship. Everything in the game has some use. There are no "decorative" assets.

... And then again, Jump Drive... Only a theory, not fact.

But that is where Modding comes in, i was asking for a mod, and also to just talk about the idea of such a cargo container like the ender type-chest.

Not looking for Balance or "does this fit the game style?" - More like, looking for "would this give ME more enjoyment?"
Initial idea of mine says: yes, i would enjoy this.

But, Mr. Purist, i think you forget a vital part of modding and CHOICE.
You don't haft to get a mod like "ender type-chest" if you do not want it.
Choice. Most people forget such a "feature" exists.
Same goes for those who is against "cheats" - They are a choice. And they never seem to learn this concept.

But i digress.

I don't think "discuss" means what you think it does if you were only looking for affirmation. But I'll assume it is a language barrier issue.

You posted this in the Ideas and Suggestions section which is usually directed at the devs for things you'd like to see added to the game.

I was not commenting on your idea as much as providing you information for why something like you suggest is not already part of the game.

As for your suggestion that Jump Drives are not realistic it might help you to know that Jump Drives and Gravity Generators were specifically added to the game despite them breaking the "realism" due to game mechanics issues. Gravity Generators were necessary since the engine would not support grids moving a speeds necessary to produce Artificial Gravity just like one cannot achieve speeds necessary for genuine orbits. And Jump Drives were added because it was felt that due to the "speed limit" and with the edition of planets that players would be too impatient to spend hours traveling between planets and moons. There are posts on Marek's blog related to both these blocks.

That said, I don't particularly like your idea but perhaps a modder who wants to make SE more like minecraft will help you out. Good luck.

Guess i was wrong about the sections.
Not always easy to figure out, as each "company" or dev treats these sections differently.
*sigh* Well, thanks for the info, and your replies.

You're welcome. And I'm not saying you put a "mod request" in the wrong section because I'm not certain there is a specific section for them. I just know that this section has been used in the past to attempt to pass "ideas and suggestions" to the devs. The modders probably need their own section since you will see mod requests and discussons in all the sections.

You might edit your OP and put "Mod Request" prominently in the title and that may help modders find your post better.

Edit: There is a "Workshop discussions" section that might also be a place to post your request.
