DirectX 11 Error Strikes Again
Whenever I try to launch the game I get an error saying "The current version of the game requires a Dx11 card..." and trying all the different fixes I've found on this forum doesn't work.

Not sure if a new windows update I got yesterday has to do with it (Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709). The last time I played was at the beginning of the week and everything worked fine.

Basic System Info:
  • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
  • CPU: Intel i7-4700HQ 2.4 GHz
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 770M

Things I've Tried:
  • Restarted the computer and made sure everyting was updated
  • Clean install of GPU drivers
  • Clean reinstall Space Engineers and verified game files
  • Double-checked GPU supports Dx11 (it supports DX9 , 10, 11, and 12)
  • Tried to roll back to most recent version that I know worked (1.184, no longer works)
  • Tried to roll back to Dx9 version (works...but I'd rather stay updated)
  • Tried to run everything as an administrator
  • Tried to force game to use GPU in NVIDIA control panel
  • Reinstalled Dx11

Your Laptop may not be set for gaming and the game is using the integrated Intel Graphic.

Make sure that the 2 Graphics are uptodate and set the laptop for gaming.

How to update the Intel HD Graphic :

- open control panel -> device manager -> display adapters -> right mouse button on intel(R) HD graphics xxxx (xxxx stands for number of graphics you are having) -> hit update driver software -> after update is done, restart the computer

The 770m is the only display adapter listed in device manager (always been that way), and I have already made sure it and everything else is up to date (last updated today). According to Intel's website, my specific cpu (i7-4700 HQ) doesn't have a graphics driver that's compatible with my laptop (not sure if that's correct, but I double checked that every driver is installed on my laptop).

If it helps, here's the full system info:

Sorry, usually for this kind of problems it's caused by the fact that there is 2 Graphics.

Since there is no integrated graphice in your Laptop I don't know why you see this error message. :riddle:
Wonderful... So I have to wait until there's a fix? Glad to see that I bought a game I can't really play anymore...
i got the same problem. although heres me thinking id already had a dx11 card...
your CPU has a IGPU. Have you deactivate it in Bios or even installed the driver?
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/en/download/24345/Intel-Driver-Support-Assistant

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/en/product/75116/Intel-Core-i7-4700HQ-Prozessor-6-MB-Cache-bis-zu-3-40-GHz-

the IGPU driver has to be installed before the DGPU driver

you have a Microsoft Basic Render Driver (with indicate something is wrong, not installed)

give us a full dxdiag log (save info button, run as admin, post on pastebin)

ASUS ROG forums (for my laptop) say that the IGPU on my CPU is permanently disabled by the manufacturer. I double-checked this in BIOS, which doesn't have an option to disable an IGPU anywhere, and when I tried to install the intel graphics driver, I got a system requirements error. There's no IGPU listed on ASUS's specifications on my laptop either (G750JX).

I double checked the device manager for any "unknown" or generic driver devices and couldn't find anything. I also double-checked that every driver for every device on my laptop is installed, but no luck.

Here's the Dxdiag info: https://pastebin.com/5dJPwJRW

@Huperspace

:NOTES: Never disable the integrated Graphic on a Laptop if there is one.

EDIT

''Didn't know that OEM deactivate IGPUs to not save battery time''

^^ That is why we don't have to disable the integrated Graphic, Laptops Needs 2 Graphic to run properly.

@Huperspace

I double-checked that I have those drivers AND did as was suggested for Geolocation.dll, no luck.

@Dan2D3D

Thanks for trying. I'll post if I find a solution with Keen Support (or anything for that matter).
Fixed the problem! Used the "Reset Windows" option. Not sure what exactly was the issue since I reinstalled everything first, then tried (maybe a driver was bad?).

Thanks for your help guys!

Well done :approve:

Yes some had to reinstall Windows, when nothing works = it may be a bad Windows update.
