Multi-threaded physics???
Nothing multi-thread about this game! Keen! It 2017 and this game runs like a slide show on Ryzen CPUs runnign at 3.8 GHz using 1 thread, and only 1!

This game is laggy as hell and I'm sick of losing my hard built ships because I magically slide-show my way into a mountain seconds to minutes after I have changed direction. This has detroyed 2 of my ships in as many hours due to poor programming that can't compile on a 32 or 64 bit compiler that can actually use the hardware that it is running on!

Learn to code and make Space Engineers fun again!

Ryzen 1950x
32 GB Corsair LPX
Gigabyte X399-Aorus Gaming 7
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW3

My hardware is not lacking. This game should run like butter, not like solidified greese.

Hi, we have much weaker PC at the office with 750Ti GTX cards at the office and game is running fine. So if you have problem with that kind of HW there must be some issue. Game is fully multithreaded not just physics.

So please post you log file and info if you are playing single or multiplayer.

Thanks

Sorry for the harsh thread. It iwas a very frustrating night. It was uncalled for.

Thank you for responding. I dig into and find my log filkes and will post it as soon as I can.

I am mostly seeing single trhread behavior in both single and multiplayer. I am not seeing any log files that stand out. Where should I look to get the best details that you need?

Okay. I found the SpaceEngineers.log file. It is pretty big. How you you loke me to send it to you?

Okay. Doing further testing:

If I set the affinity for the game executable to lock it to 8 or less cores it works much smoother.

It looks like the executable freaks out when it finds more than 16 cores and it defaults to 1 core. I was able to run 4,and 8 cores with almost no issues if I set the affinity manually the game works over multiple cores like it should.

I see lots of strange stuff in the log caused by numerous mods, loading files multiple times, errors in the content etc. Please run the game without the mods and let me know if you still have that issue.

After that you can try turning them on one by one to find which one is the culprit.

I get the same results with or without the mods whenever I don't manually set the CPU thread affinity.

16 threads seems to be the breaking point when it defaults back to 1 thread.

Nah our formula when creating threads is NumberOfCores / 2 so in your case it's 8 high priority, 8 normal priority and 8 low priority.

Can you please make me a video so i can see how it looks like?

this was something i had to for a long time. After the last major update it was a lot better with multithread.
Maby a reinstall could fix it or iam lucky that it somehow fixed it for me. ( i alway work around the bugs. So i dont alway report problems :P )
If you use a speedmod the problems can apear to.
Good luck
