Red barrier prevents building.

So I was building a space station on an asteroid above the earth planet. Then all of a sudden a red barrier formed that won't let me place blocks on the station. I can place a block somewhere else but then can not build more blocks on it. So now nothing can be built. I am playing in creative mode and this has happend before on other save files. It's random and makes it so I can no longer build and have to start a new save and do it all again. I don't know why it does this. I have built entire settlements that were pretty big without this happening.

Does this happen all over the station or just in one place ?
Are you sure nothing is in the way ? Sometimes a small piece of rock or stone may prevent you from building.

Everywhere on the station. I can start a new station with one block but cannot add to the new or old station

Check if the block limitations in your world settings are set to some value that may prevent you from building larger constructions.
