Can't place block?
I can't place any blocks in a certain area of my ship, and I noticed it has a yellow glow to it, does this mean something?

Yellow means it can't place the block there. Something's interfering. Any large single-unit objects nearby? Like a large reactor or weapon turret? Those take up more space than they look like.

Nope, just placing blocks of the same kind, nothing close to any of it, and then boom, couldnt place anymore.

I have seen this too. It seems like there is some sort of glitch that has to do with block association. Basically, where you are trying to place the block is no longer associated with the whole ship. Sometimes, if you delete a block that is the only block attaching two other parts together, the separated parts are no longer considered part of that ship. Now, some of the time, your block will burst off and float away due to sudden friction. Another part of the time, the blocks will be held in place and just not be associated with the ship anymore. I had to reconstruct parts of my ship a couple times to get around this. Basically, you have to determine which blocks are no longer associated with the whole and remove them before things will attach normally again. It's annoying, but this game is also all of four days out from early release, so things like this are understandable.

No problem! I've seen this mentioned in a couple other places since I noticed it myself, so it's apparently a somewhat common issue that will likely be addressed before too long. I'll check it out!

It's been over 10 years and this is still an issue. Are the devs ever going to address it, you think?

Hi, it's fixed since 10 years and I recommend to create a new 2024 discussion where you will share your save so me and Veteran players can load to help you find the cause with solution.

How to save a world to your Workshop :

1 - Select your save.
2 - Click the Publish button on the left.
3 - Select proper Tag with Steam upload and click the OK button.
4 - The world save will be uploaded to your Workshop.
5 - Copy/paste the item link in your new discussion.

______________

Note

2013 discussion is way too old to reopen because the game was not the same at all, there was no planets at that time.

Keep in mind we lock +3 months old discussions because the game is not the same after a update where old disscussions may contain false information, discussions that don't have any activity so no new posts since 3 months. also to avoid community reports about "Necroing old" and it is in the forum rules added to pinned green messages.

Never be shy to create a new forum discussion, one problem at a time so all can help on one idea/problem per discussions that matches the game version.
