Wind Turbine Issue
I've searched other post and found nothing quite like the issue I'm having. Started a new save on earth like planet. Constructing an initial base with a wind turbine for power. Turbine is ten blocks high, anchored to the ground and connected to my large block base. Everything is connected as all the blocks snapped to the grid, including the turbine. The turbine spins without any problem but is not producing any power. It's very flat land in snow covered polar area with good wind most of the time. As I said the turbine spins pretty good most of the time but doesn't produce any power at all. Bug? Or am I missing something. I've played before and never had this particular problem.

What else do you have? If nothing actually requires power, then Current Output is 0 W.

Could have a battery on discharge providing all the power so the turbine can't supply power,

I have a basic refiner, basic assembler, small storage container, H2/O2 generator, and survival kit. Everything worked fine till I logged off. When I logged back in later everything was off line because the wind turbine was not generating any power.

Is your base still a base or did you change the grid type to "ship"? Windturbine do not work on mobile grids.

I didn't knowingly change it. Not sure I even know how to change it since I have never made that change. If it's so easy to change it can be done without knowing it I'd say that might be a flaw that needs fixed.

In the 'K' terminal, click on the Info tab and in the lower right side you will find the information telling you if it's a base or ship.

Hi, keep in mind stations that have only one Job to do need a minimum of 4 Wind Turbines properly positioned to give Max Power.

Main "rule" about WT = minimum of 4 Wind Turbine per station.

For example,
2 stations in 1 so a Gas station with Automatic Factory making steel plates will need a minimum of 8 Wind Turbines :

IF not enough Wind Turbines = Blocks on station will go Offline.
+
Wind Turbine give less power when it's snowing.

Now that I know where to look I will check to see if is a base or a ship.

for the dev, I have over 900 hrs in the game and understand the need for enough wind turbines but it takes time to build four wind turbines and we need at least some power to do that. It may be partially my fault because I dismantled the drop pod equipment to build the base equipment so I can't use the drop pod to manufacture parts. Even still one wind turbine should produce at least some power even if it would only run one or two machines at a time. In all the other times I've played this game I have never had this problem. That's why it is so confusing and frustrating.

EDIT: Nothing was running when I logged in today but while I was checking to see if it was a base or a ship (it was a base) everything kicked on and has been running since then. I clicked on the 'convert to base' button even though it wasn't highlighted. Don't know if that caused it to start running. If so there may be a loose connection in that button. I quickly built some more wind turbines and batteries just to be safe.

Wind power can vary from zero to plenty depending on the variable weather - if the turbine is out of view you can't tell if it is rotating and producing energy, and wind noise sound effects are not a reliable indicator. A single wind turbine at a good height above terrain is ample to power a basic refinery or basic assembler - in early stage game refining and assembling do not need to be done concurrently, so a single turbine is sufficient.
Honestly, this is why I switch to solar the moment I have the production capacity to do it properly. A sun-tracking solar array will provide more consistent power input than wind turbines. Turbines are mostly good for being a cheap starter option before you gain access to better tech.

Not sure why you're getting no power what so ever from yours, though. If it's spinning and you have something using power from it, you should be getting power. Something seems weird about this.

It's working now, at least for the moment. I put in some additional turbines and batteries to store any extra power I get. As I said I'm in what appears to be an arctic area with literally limitless ice. I"m working down the tech tree to get a reactor installed ASAP.

LOL, actually working. Disabling progression kind of defeats the purpose of the game. Of course I won't be able to use the reactor until I get uranium but at least it is there.

Me too always grind the Drop Pod to build my first station so don`t worry cause you should be able to do the same.

I also know where the Rich ore spots are that is where I build the needed stations and never have ore problems, we build all very early when we start at a RIch ore spot.

Rich ore spot = All ores within 1Km.

Note

In case you don't know me I must specify :

-> I am not a SE Dev but forum Moderator community helper/game tester and I help the SE community since 2013 because it's my Favorite Sandbox game on Steam.

-> I collect the most talked about every months to send to the SE team and they gave me the [Dev] Tag so I can be admin of the Workshop to help more.

I collect the most talked about every months to report to them so my Favorite Sandbox game can become better.
