How to paint with no middle mouse button
Ok this has been killing me. I got a 10 dollar mouse. My moues wheel is trash sensitive and to click it and have it stay (to paint large areas) is impossible. Also this is a button I can't seem to remap. Any suggestions or something i'm missing.

Uhm... buy a better mouse? :p

Not so expensive these days to get a good one. I got the CM Storm Xornet gaming mouse and it wasn't even 25 dollars.

Who is no help ^this guy^!

Jeez couldnt of thought of that...wait not an option. And I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem also the middle mouse button isn't that comfortable to use anyways especially if it is built into your mouse wheel. So I was actually looking for a helpful answer.

As a guy with a more or less high quality mouse, the middle button is still a pain to click reliably. I hate games that bind it by default, and loathe the ones that won't allow me to change it.

By using a 2 button mouse you will be limiting yourself in most games these days. Get a 3 button and you will have much more fun. The only time I have had weak middle mouse buttons is when I bought a cheap mouse. Up the stakes a little for so much more quality. Mice for £15 are infinitely better than those priced £7.

I don't think there is a way to bind it to a keyboard button , but feel free to have a look through the options menu and see if there is any way. Failing that , you could emulate the middle mouse button using a keyboard key and some macro software.

It still would be nice if we could remap it to a key/button of our own choice though.
And in my experience the middle mouse button/wheel does not always work reliable and fails quickly. I have had several ones that had the mouse wheel fail so that I have to press it hard or several times for it to register properly.

That and it can be difficult to use if you dont have long fingers, such as I. Tend to slip off of it or spin it while moving the mouse and attempting to hold it down.

Download GlovePIE, you can basically make your own remaps.

Good idea. I'd forgotten about GlovePIE.
But Space Engineers still needs to be fixed. Unbindable controls don't belong on PC :)

give them time :)

An alternative is X-Mouse Button Control. I have these types of of issues all the time due to the fact that I use a Logitech Marbleman Trackball (has the trackball on top, a big and little thumb button, and a big and little ring finger button).

It's very disappointing playing games where having a mouse wheel or a middle mouse button is an integral part of a game, and yet they have no recourse in rebinding other than hoping that the controls are configureable in the .ini files, and even then, sometimes it's a crapshoot.

Another useful tool (just putting it here in case you or anyone else is a no-scroll wheel "pleb" like myself) is Marble Mouse Wheel.

X-Mouse Button control allows for rebinding of any mouse button/keyboard key to any other button/mouse function/bunch of different functions, whereas Marble Mouse Wheel is just a handy tool if you want a quick, easy way to have a Scroll wheel on a mouse that otherwise doesn't have one.

Hope this helps

was just about to say that you can do "Shift+ctrl" while clicking mmb to paint a 5x5 area, but I realised this thread was a revived one from awhile ago...
