Not so expensive these days to get a good one. I got the CM Storm Xornet gaming mouse and it wasn't even 25 dollars.
Jeez couldnt of thought of that...wait not an option. And I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem also the middle mouse button isn't that comfortable to use anyways especially if it is built into your mouse wheel. So I was actually looking for a helpful answer.
I don't think there is a way to bind it to a keyboard button , but feel free to have a look through the options menu and see if there is any way. Failing that , you could emulate the middle mouse button using a keyboard key and some macro software.
And in my experience the middle mouse button/wheel does not always work reliable and fails quickly. I have had several ones that had the mouse wheel fail so that I have to press it hard or several times for it to register properly.
But Space Engineers still needs to be fixed. Unbindable controls don't belong on PC :)
It's very disappointing playing games where having a mouse wheel or a middle mouse button is an integral part of a game, and yet they have no recourse in rebinding other than hoping that the controls are configureable in the .ini files, and even then, sometimes it's a crapshoot.
Another useful tool (just putting it here in case you or anyone else is a no-scroll wheel "pleb" like myself) is Marble Mouse Wheel.
X-Mouse Button control allows for rebinding of any mouse button/keyboard key to any other button/mouse function/bunch of different functions, whereas Marble Mouse Wheel is just a handy tool if you want a quick, easy way to have a Scroll wheel on a mouse that otherwise doesn't have one.
Hope this helps
