Blueprint on Blueprint?
Sorry if this is a Noob question, but I just got the game, so I am Newb....

Is it possible to attach a blueprint to an existion ship?

Is it possible to attack a blueprint to another blueprint?

I want to know if I can design component ahead of time, and then just use the blueprint of the part later..

Like and RCS assembly, or a "standard" factory floor layout. Can I then save that one compnent, and add it to another work in progress?

Sorry again if this is a dumb question, I just did not see an obvious answer with looking around myself.

If you can get perfect alignment you can in theory build it, but if you're looking to do it in a slightly more sensible way you can just make individual "modular ships" and staple them together with merging (and/or connector) blocks.

Most of my larger vessels (including a station) consist of dozen or so "large" ships; my current working autonomous station is 1 station, 8 large ships, and 12 small ships (mining, etc.).

I don't think you can attach a blueprint to another blueprint, not sure though.

But you can place a blueprint on an existing ship/grid both on creative or survival mode, you just have to place correctly while pasting or placing the projection correctily using the projector block if you're on survival.

Yeah, I was hoping I could patch a hole with a blueprint of a bulkhead, and go to town welding.

Loose a thruster assembly? throw on a RCS pack somewhere and get back to work.

Perhaps a way to lay the blueprint of the ship over itself, to make it easier to put it back in whole condition.

All my ships have a projector block somewhere with the projection matching the ship itself, so you can repair any parts automatically just by flying near a wall of welders.

I have successfully made a blueprint of a ship constructor that has a blueprint of another ship. Based on my readings in the forum, it is definitely possible to have a device that builds itself constantly, implying you could indeed have a blueprint in a blueprint in a blueprint.... vice versa.

Yes you can. I built large stations this way. Unfortunatelly it only works with stations, which can be converted to large ships. I doubt you will be able to make it work with small ships.
