You're not a noob. Just accostomed to having every ore in one rock. While I agree the ore distribution is fairly realistic, I'll admit that some tweaking for gameplay purposes would be nice to have. Do a "Dory" and "just keep looking, just keep looking". Every ore will be in one world they'll require more effort to find.

Hunter if you read what i wrote, ive looked through many asteroids and none contained more than iron and rarely uranium. i aint accustomed to one spot, i like going to many asteroids for resources, but none had anything but iron like i said

yeah i've seen the other ore but they were way too rare out of 10 asteroids i found only iron and gold

Dont stoop to insults. You'll get less "help" that way.

How far have you looked? I spent 30mins drifting to find my Uranium deposit to set up shop next to. Then I had to find the other ores (iron was no problem obviously). The nearest Silicon depost i found was 30,000-35,000m away. Gold was 14,000m away, silver was only 5000m away. Nickle and cobalt were 2500m and 3500m respectively and in opposite directions from my base.

Wow, I ran out of uranium long before I found any.

Ive noticed something about the generated asteroids. When you fly up to a distant one your detector wont tell you whats in it. Even if you are clearly looking at some iron or silver or whatever, no indication on the hud. Until you dig in at least once then bam the ores pop up. I think this has to do with what they said in the notes that the asteroid isnt loaded until you deform it.

Simply scaning aound the asteroid.. seeing nothing and leaving will not tell you whats inside. There is infact all the ores. The only one Im still trying to track down now is platinum, but I have found all others. Its discouraging to see so much iron I know, but the ores are there you just have to do a little digging.

Closest ive gotten was 0.30kg out of 0.50kg uranium remaining.

If you turn off all the systems you arent using, grav gen, refinery, assembler and even the med bay, the 0.6 starting uranium will last 67 days. So you cannot run out before finding some.

Edit: turn off the collector and connector too.

It is harder to find non-iron ore than it used to be.
IMO a bit too hard, where it takes more than an hour too find ores needed for detector to help you find ores.

However, I think I have found a pattern that helps look in likely places.
See my post 41 in "Wohoo there be Nickel in them there 1.062 procedural asteroids "
