Most likely requires a new world. If you really want to keep your stuff just copy it and paste it into the new super size worlds.
Hero Canon Dec 25, 2014 @ 1:22pm
Yes you will need to create a new world or blueprint your existing things into one.

Actually, it seems like one guy managed to make it work for old worlds by messing around in the save file. Use this link and look at comment #57: http://forums.keenswh.com/post?id=7217613&trail=60

"2 entries in the Sandbox.sbc file when I went for max, Infinity, in the game settings:

<ProceduralDensity>0.5</ProceduralDensity>
<ProceduralSeed>1763206327</ProceduralSeed>

The world was Crashed Red Ship.

Seed number is obvious, density is, I suppose, how close the rocks are to each other.

Infinite Procedural and Unlimited world size.

Question is, can these entries be added to an existing world, and 'change' it? Let's find out.

EDIT: HOT DAMN!

I added the 2 lines above, the first as it was, and the 2nd with a random 10 digit number, to a 1.061 save game, then loaded and started flying past the 'roid' field I had. Random rocks being generated. This is the BOMB Keen. [eek]

All the original roids in my old world, plus more. This rocks!!"

This is the comment I'm guessing? Will try it out, I am excited to be wrong on this!

That is the one. He discusses it further in the forum. Not to give you false hope but since it is possible to do so with just changing two lines, I do think this will be available "in-game" with a future update.

It seems a bit strange that it would be so easy, like if the devs wanted you to be able to do that. It is possible that this "convert feature" isn't completely ready in the devs opinion and thats why you can't do it "in-game". We will see what the future brings us.

Ya I have fiddled with it for about ten minutes now and I cannot seem to get it to work. The sandbox.sbc file is in your saved world and I added the lines he is describing but changing the values is making no noticable difference :(

You can blueprint ships and stations into new worlds, which is great. What I wanted to do was convert a pre-patch world with working resources into a post-patch world with hopefully working resources.

What can I say? Maybe he left something out, maybe he lied about it all. I'm just presenting a possible option to a problem that a lot of people will have with their old worlds.

I appreciate it, and he probably did, his info is quite sparse for such a useful fix.

Yeah, to me it seems like he knows what he is talking about, but he makes for an awful instructor so far.

just did it on my save file works perfectly had a lone survivor world, so i created another with the specs i wanted wich was normal density saved it, opened both sandbox.sbc files one next to the other copied the two lines from the one i created to my original world in the position it showed on the sandbox of the one i just created. saved the changes.

And weeeee all my old ♥♥♥♥ plus the new asteroids

It's still not working for me. In the new world I created I cannot find <ProceduralDensity>0.5</ProceduralDensity>
<ProceduralSeed>1763206327</ProceduralSeed>, or anything like it to add to my old world. Is it spelled differently? Could you be more specific with its location in the .sbc? Screenshots would be best ;)

Do share if the new chunks have all the ores! If they do, give us a download!
