Is this game worth playing in 2024?
I'm looking for a new space game and i'm wondering if this game is still worth playing in 2024 or is there another game that you like better that is space survival ?

There is no answer for your question. It depends on your definition of "worth". Is it worth $20 for some amusement and playing Legos-in-spAAaaaAAAaaaaaAce? Yeah.

But if you're looking for a totally engrossing, well-thought-out space game, I would look elsewhere. It's a bit of a tinker's delight.

Well said, well said! A lot of the negative reviews on the Steam Store are about people who bought a game that is not their forte/not made for them.

Bringing it back to OP, do your homework! Look up videos on Youtube, look up guides, and how to starts on YT before you buy the game. As someone who has close to 2,500 hours in the game, I personally can say that It was worth every bit of it. I will say that I go into SE very rarely, mostly when I am bored of the other games that I play. I will continue building that ship that I like building. As Ronin said, "it's a bit of a tinker's delight." But no OP, look into the game, and then decide from there.

Thats where the play for free weekends are so good. That was how I found this game, one of steams play for free weekends and 75% off sales.

Also checking out YT playthroughs can help decide if a game is to a players liking. that helped me decide on a few games I was unsure about getting.

Are you looking for Space Legos? Yes. Are you looking for survival or exploration? Then no.

I am totally playing this game a lot nowadays. I'm tired of Starfield. SE keeps me coming back. The new blocks are gorgeous and I'm finding new ways to use them all the time!

As you can no doubt see by the previous comments, there's a wide variety of opinions when it comes to Space Engineers being 'worth it'.
I will simply answer this way:
Whether it's worth it or not is completely up to you and what you want to do with the game.
If you are looking for non-stop, epic space battles, then this game is probably not worth it.
If you are very creative and like building things and making things work, then I'd say that this game is most definitely worth it.

BUY IT its worth it if you dont do anything but use other peoples stuff its worth it. Even if you only play some challenges the ammount of libraries they have of DLC that are all affordable and fairly inexpensive make you able to build pretty much whatever you want to build. Its an older game now but its still amazing especially if you like to build.

For me personally, it's more worth it now than it was last I played a couple of years ago, especially if you play on Keen's official servers. Server performance has been improved greatly (at least the server I play on) and hackers are no longer ruining my game. I also am enjoying all the new blocks from recent DLCs, which allow me to build a much nicer ship than I could have a few years ago. And the graphics are more than good enough for my tastes. Sometimes the "latest, greatest, newest" games give a slight increase in graphic fidelity at the expense of a huge performance hit, and I'd rather have the good performance.

This game can be best described with "space functional minecraft". There's no purpose, a couple of scenario and story to play through, but not really high quality, but it's a very fun building game in which what you make actually works.

Want to create a cruiser that can put crater into a planet, or some simple utility plateform, you can, and it'll work.

There's a bunch of mods that you can put, and a lot of online play to have fun in as well, so if that's your fun, it's there.

However, if you are looking for something like Starfield/NMS but good, then You'd better stay away from it, as it's not an exploration game. A bit sad, but it's not

Still playing it, ten years later... and still learning how not to do stupid stuff

I just bought it after being really disappointed with Starfield. I wish I would have gotten into it sooner, as SE seems to be my kinda game. That's what it comes down to. I of course considered the game many times before but the graphics quality always put me off. I've gotten past that now and feel there's enough here to keep me playing for many years.

I love it, and keep coming back to it. I've heard of play styles from somebody starting in survival and slowly building up a base and fleet, to folks having PvP battles with 1:1 scale battleships, with crew running around the interior of the ships doing damage control (repairs) during battles. And of course some people play in creative mode and just mess around building lots of cool stuff.
